Blue Jays vs. Royals Game Highlights (4/22/24) | MLB Highlights

they getting set for game one of four
between the Blue Jays and Royals at kman
Stadium Brady singer will be on the
mound for the Royals tonight left to us
Kikuchi pitches for Toronto and for
Brady he is making his 100th career
appearance in the big leagues this will
be his fifth start of the year he’s two
strikeout shy of 500 on his career and
if he gets four tonight that would be
the most strikeouts through the first
100 career games as Royal since Steve
Busby has the record 501 Springer will
try to get something going for Toronto
he gets jammed it’s a slow roller to
Vinnie singer covers first and it’s an
easy out now Guerrero lat at 226 on the
season three home runs as Guerrero sends
one into left Center and that’s going to
drop for a base hit man on now for Bo
bashet who had a two-hit game yesterday
couple of singles this is where Bo made
his major league debut Runner goes
pitches line hard center field hamson
comes over to make the catch Herrero
hustles back to first so bashet lines
out to Center two down for Justin Turner
Fly ball center field shallow hson in a
hurry comes in to make the catch to end
the inning one hit one left and after
half an inning Kaufman Stadium Blue Jays
nothing Royals are coming up you say
kuchi is off to great start this will be
his fifth start of the Season his eighth
career start against the Royals Garcia
Whit and pasquin Martino a bouncer to
third a nice big hop for Isaiah ker FFA
one down that brings up Bobby win only
shoh Otani has more extra base hits than
Bobby wood Jun good breaking ball to get
him two down you say he’s pitching with
so much confidence right now here’s the
first baseman of Vinnie pasquantino who
comes in on a 10 game hitting streak he
pulls it to Second a couple of steps to
his right Cav bisho makes the play and
you say Kikuchi sets the Royals down in
order in the bottom of the first second
inning not score varo Schneider Jensen
swung on and missed so singer gets his
first strike out makes quick work of VAR
show singer how look at that little two
seamer Runner they got East and West
movement and north and south now with
that four seam fast ball that change up
Davis Schneider hitting 227 right in
there strike three called Schneider
shaking his head as he walks away from
home plate so back to- back strikeouts
for Brady singer line center field
hampson Dives and he’s got it a terrific
play on a hard sinking liner in the left
center field to end the inning so two
strikeouts and a very nice defensive
play Salvador Perez leads off bottom of
the second inning how many baseball
teams have a captain but there he’s one
of them and ker FFA got handcuffed by
that hot shot and couldn’t find it in
time to have a play on Perez went to
reach for it and he kicked it away into
foul territory that should be an air but
but they give Perez a base hit if you
ask kind of for left he’ll tell you
that’s got to be made you got the
catcher running it gets to it quickly
and it’s right there as this one is hit
softly out to Second and the catch made
by bigio here’s the first pitch to
Hunter rro swing and a high fly ball
Centerfield varo creeping in stops makes
the catch two down CL by bashet he
throws over to bigio at second and ends
the inning Kikuchi gives up one single
but strands the runner z00 after two
innings both pitchers off to a good
start singer after a breeze of a first
two innings issues a four-pitch walk to
begin the third viio is the number nine
hitter bigio shoots it the other way a
fair ball h of FF is on his way to third
bigo’s into second the Blue Jays in
business here in the top of the third
singer and Perez tried to go upstairs
they tried to elevate that two seamer
and it kind of just runs right over the
middle of the plate Guerrero takes a
walk and the bases are loaded one out
for Bo bashet in the air right center
field it’s carrying and it’s going to be
off the glove of hampson Kinder FF is in
bisho in here comes vlat and bashet with
a three-run triple boy I tell you what
the Blue Jays work very hard on base
running and right there it pays off onew
Pitch swung on and Miss strike three
slider down and in gets Marshall and
that ends the inning bottom of the third
inning in Kansas City three nothing blue
jay six pitches is all Kikuchi needs to
retire the Royals nice easy inning for
us Kikuchi to Davis Schneider is a
slider low and outside deep short junor
slides on the grass one hop Vinnie’s got
it and that’s out number one Schneider
stung it to the left side and wh made a
sliding backhand stop he’s got a grass
stand on his right knee coner FFA has
got a two- out single check swing on a
pitch in the dirt he went around strike
three Brady singer picks up his fourth
strikeout and secures a scoreless top of
the fourth inning three nothing Blue
Jays over Royals bottom of the fourth
Bobby Whit Jr leads off for Kansas City
ooh off his foot and it bounces to ker
FFA they’ll get wit and kikuchi’s asking
for a new ball so is he okay he got hit
hard yeah he did and so now they’re
pointing to where he got hit and I think
he got hit on the top of his foot so
they’re going to have a look at him and
got a smile that’s a good thing Paul
strike three they tried to elevate
Kikuchi missed his spot but ran the fast
ball by the knees start at the top of
the sixth inning Royals Trail the Blue
Jays three nothing payoff pitch is just
low that’s ball four so Turner draws a
lead off walk and that brings up Dalton
Baro Baro hammers the ball right field
rro back at the wall runs out of room
it’s gone he did it again Dalton varo
with his sixth home run of the Season 5
nothing Blue Jays well Brady singer
missed his spot with that Sinker sh runs
now and 13 RBI for dalon V he leads in
both categories one down drone Blanco
Blanco to the Gap in right center varo
won’t get this one and it’s up against
the wall and the Royals have just their
second base runner a one out double back
to the top of the order for Michael
Garcia who’s 0 for two Garcia drives it
deep in the air down the left field line
no doubt about it long gone two-run
Homer Mikel Garcia
he put it in the seats in front of the
Royals Hall of Fame The Royals are on
the board it’s now 5-2 that’s just the
second home run given up by Kikuchi
pasquantino is grounded to Second and
struck out looking breaking ball chopped
to the right side first baseman Turner
snares it on the back hand throws to
kakuchi well wide it goes past him down
the first base line Jansen backs it up
pass quintino credited with a hit that
extends his hitting streak to 11 games a
new career best it had been a breeze for
Kikuchi in the first five innings but
the Royals have made him work salvi at
the plate with a man on curveball lace
toward the left field Corner Fair ball
going all the way to the fence pass
quintino races around second Wilson
holds up the stop sign at third good
relay back in from Schneider Salvador
Perez has a two out double the Royals
put Runners on second and third with two
outs and Nelson Velasquez comes to the
plate as the potential tying run ground
ball to Short backhanded by bashet and
he’ll make the play to get him and end
the inning the Royals get the two on the
Garcia home run 52 Blue Jays at the end
of six veteran reliever Tyler Duffy just
called up today fio swings and misses
strike three how about that for a
welcome back to the big leads sharply
hit up the middle but Junior cuts it off
sets his feet and gets Springer by a
half step left leg kick the pitch swung
on in Miss strike three Duffy got him
with a fast ball welcome to the Royals
Tyler Duff feet a one two three top of
the seventh with a couple of strikeouts
well through the first five innings
tonight you say Kikuchi was just flying
along ran into some trouble in the sixth
some pats on the back and handshakes all
around six Innings two runs and the
first time this season he is not issue a
walk he was outstanding line
fair or turn on the fast ball Frasier
has a lead off double bounce to First
Turner’s coming home with it and they
got him at the plat well what a good
play what a heads up play by a veter he
mentioned Turner’s just making his
second start at first base but he’s a
natural third baseman and he has had
that play a million times on the other
side of the diamond Frazer breaks for
the plate and Janson comes all the way
across and puts the tag on him before he
can get home nice play by Turner good
tag by Jansen Jordon Romano is sitting
on 99 career saves looking for number
100 career here tonight in the opening
game of this series with Kansas City
Kyle Isbell hit the ball hard his only
other play appearance a drive to deep
Center belted down the right field line
it’s hooking it’s hooking it is gone
Isbell got a pitch to pull and it
appeared that he threw a slider but he
threw it right in the middle of the
plate moving right into the left-handed
batter so Kyle Isbell keeps the Royals
breathing with a solo home run Michael
Massie the batter the second baseman in
number eight hitter he 0 for three
tonight he sends one to center field it
is playable for Kier they bolt out to
the early lead on the big hits by bashet
and Nar show get a good performance from
us Kikuchi Jordan Romano career save
number 100 and the Blue Jays take the
opener 5 to3

  1. I don't understand why the Leafs are the more popular team in Toronto over the Jays when the Leafs have done nothing but choke and fail in the playoffs every year. The Jays should replace the Leafs as the most popular team in Toronto and have the media focus on them rather than on the choking Leafs. The Blue Jays will win their 3rd World Series before the Leafs play in the ECF. The Blue Jays are 1 World Series win away from overtaking the Leafs as the number 1 sports team in Toronto.

  2. I believe that the only reason why the Leafs are still the most popular team in Toronto despite all of their playoff failures is because the Blue Jays haven't won enough or done enough in the playoffs to overtake the Leafs as the most talked about and the most popular team in Toronto. All it takes for the Jays to overtake the Leafs and grab the media and fans attention is one more World Series win. One more World Series win is all it will take for the Jays to finally overtake the Leafs as the number 1 sports team in Toronto.

  3. I honestly don’t know why Frazier went home there. He should’ve waited for a better chance. Also if we would’ve scored just one more one when we had two players in scoring position we might’ve won this

  4. The guy doing the Royals announcing is having a fairly major stroke, why is no one calling an ambulance. Hish shpeaking ish all shcrewed up.
