I believe we were 31 or 32 for back up QBs last year. What would we be this year? Jake has proven to be able to beat most (not all teams) but is too inconsistent to be anything more than a backup.
Still love him and his attitude on this roster.
This is a great move by the front office. He is cost controlled for two more years and even after that he will be a RFA, that will either make $5-6m a year or bring back a high round draft pick for us. I hope they give him more than the minimum ERFA deal of 2 years $2.2m, or add signing bonus or heavy incentives to his deal (which dont all count vs the cap but give him solid money on top of his base deal- like Cordell Volson)
Getting a great backup QB like him is such a boon for the Bengals from a roster and cap perspective.
My DHGATE jersey will still have a little wearability.
Good for him he sure earned it, dude.had some awesome games last year, he certainly instilled a sense of confidence if Joe ever goes down again. It really seemed like the coaches played to his strengths perfectly and a side effect was it also showed us the yes Zac does indeed know how to coach, so more confidence there too. For not making the playoffs, it was still a very interesting, watchable season.
Nice, a good backup is invaluable.
Well deserved. It’s nice knowing we have a competent backup, especially one who knows the system.
Good. We will need him again if (when) burrow gets injured again
Funny to see how poorly this article ranking Jake Browning the worst backup QB in the NFL aged:
I hope we never have to go back to Brown town ever again.
I’d say he’s happy to be here. Has a solid chance of starting every season….
Good! Hopefully he doesn’t have to play this year but it’s always good to have him
Smart move
I love Joe Glass, but Browning is great insurance.
He deserves this. He played well against good teams.
So smart, esp that second year which could be used to keep him backup or trade if a team becomes desperate before the deadline.
Am I being hyperbolic in saying that Jake is the best backup QB the Bengals have ever had?
I don’t remember us having such a solid second option under center, even when we had Kitna holding the clipboard. Very glad to see Jake coming back, even though I would have understood him taking a payday somewhere else.
They signed the exclusive rights to his Girlfriend in the boxes every week, more importantly

One of the bright sides of last year was figuring out our backup QB situation.
Glad he is here for the next few years
Well deserved!
Best backup in the league. I’d probably take him over some starters as well.
Hopefully they gave him a pay bump!
I was just expecting to get him back for one year! I love Jake!
Glad they gave him two years he deserves it
Best backup QB in the league. Well deserved contract!
Did we control him for 2 years ? Or did they just add a year of control? I am not sure how exclusive rights work.
Either way good move.
