The absolute best angle of that “controversial” inbound play (sixers v Knicks game 2)

Just watch and look.

  1. So the only fouls are Maxeys push off on Hart and Embiid pushing Lowry to the floor. Got it.

  2. Nurse does call a timeout here before Hart touches the ball, but it was so close you can barely tell.

On a related note: I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing an NBA game live before. So an angle like this is awesome. Like, you don’t truly appreciate how fast everything is happening on an NBA court until you can see it this close.

    So fast and chaotic

  3. Maxey not just failing to cover the ball underneath him and calling for a TO, but rather putting it right out in front of Hart was as dumb as it gets.

  4. There is a VERY small window where Maxey has possession and Nick is calling timeout, so I get the refs thinking Maxey didn’t have possession. Technically speaking yes, they should have given them the timeout, but given the ref needs to see that the Sixers had possession at the time of Nick calling his timeout, that is very close.

Also kinda doesn’t matter cause Maxey shoves the fuck out of Hart lol

  5. So nice of Maxey to kindly present the ball to Josh right before his coach called timeout

  6. If Maxey just holds onto the ball instead of trying to pass, the sixers almost certainly win

  7. one underrated part of this sequence is that insane pass iHart threw to anunoby after grabbing the offensive rebound

while he was falling down, between two defenders

love you ihart please dont leave us

  8. The boxing out effort by the sixers… Jesus christ, it’s the most urgent possession of the game and the whole team is just standing around

  9. As a neutral fan, this game and the Lakers game were two of the most fun finishes in a while.

Additionally, the ref discourse has been some of the most annoying in a while.

  10. Post all star break, these plays have not been getting called foul, so this should be no different. Sixers fumbled this one at the end, plain and simple.

  11. Sixers made so many mistakes here and expect the refs to save them from themselves. Nah. 0-2.

  12. No controversy here. Just terrible coaching. Nurse should have called timeout before the inbounds and have better control of the inbounds after the timeout.

  13. Not even making an attempt at a box out on Hartenstein is what lost them the game, more than anything.

  14. I still hate refs but wow this makes me appreciate them a bit more there’s so much going on here lol

  15. Not trying to instigate at all but I genuinely would like to read Sixers fans’ input after seeing the play unfold from this view.

The play is so wild and there is so much going on all at once, and I wonder if philly fans still feel like they were egregiously hosed by the refs after seeing it from up close like this.

I see a push by Maxey on Hart right before inbounds, a pull of the jersey by Brunson on Maxey, a push on Lowry by Embiid, and a pull by Hart on Maxey to try to take the ball.

Was there a lot going on? Yes. Was it a lot going from both sides? Yes. To say that this is absolutely egregious and unacceptable to the point where you blame the loss entirely on this sequence and the referees I think is a little unfair.

Clearly, there’s so much madness happening at once that Embiid is pushing his own teammate to the floor without even realizing who he’s pushing.

You claim that Nick nurse was so clearly calling a timeout. However on replay, it shows that he himself isn’t sure if he wants to call a time out and immediately pulls his arms from the air and then changes his mind immediately and decides to call timeout when it’s very questionable whether or not Maxey had possession of the ball.

All of this is happening live, within a matter of about 40 seconds, and you want the referees to be able to call out and find every nook and cranny of an issue while all this madness is happening and still be able to officiate the last seconds of a playoff game?

Officiating was not good at all this game, but it wasn’t good for either team and it’s ridiculous to claim that one side was blatantly favored over the other. That’s not the case at all.

  16. YooooooOooooo INJECT THAT SHIT INTO MY VEINS Just, chills

    Great angle

I love it, like game 7 kawhi shot, all the different angles allowed me to relive over and over

  17. The more you watch this, the more you realize that this is a series of errors that culminated in the Sixers losing. Nurse hesitating to call time out as soon as Maxi got the ball. Maxi falling and then Nurse trying to call timeout while ball possession changed in a split second. The Sixers not boxing out and letting the Knicks grabbing the offensive rebound. So many things went wrong. It’s not just the refs. The coach and team didn’t execute in crunch time.

  18. So did Maxey not shove Hart off with 2 hands there? The Lowry flop when Embiid was the one who pushed got me crying too

  19. Maxey pushes off, Brunson grabs, but I think a no call was right. Most of it is just bad decision making by Maxey.

  20. Just so many things went wrong, I don’t know where to begin…

Aside from all the obvious shit, how about Batum, Harris, and Embiid just watching Hartenstein rip down the offensive rebound?

    Just absolutely soul-crushing.

  21. Sorry man but NO ONE should be allowed to call Time Out until possession is clear.

  22. In this angle, the play looks clean to me. Maxey was trying to foul bait instead of holding onto the ball and it cost his team. The refs actually did as decent of a job as possible despite the chaos.

  23. The biggest takeaway from this, for me, is that Donte has short term memory loss and is totally ice fucking cold.

He just missed a 3, gets a second crack at it and never hesitated.
