[Rapoport] From The Insiders: The only way the door gets shut on a Brandon Aiyuk trade is if the #49ers give him a new deal. There appear to be other teams willing to do it if SF doesn’t.

Thinking we find out on Thursday during the draft. If he’s still a Niner at the end of Round 1, he’s probably one for the next few years.

  1. Well obviously he’s a top talent he’s going to get another contract. Such a dumb line.

  2. Sounds like Deebo in 2021 where it’s wait and see if a deal comes in fruition in the 1st. The 49ers will have a lofty ask, Silver says 1st plus more, we will see if there is anyone willing to take that deal.

  3. That same line applies to literally everyone who’s in a contract year. God I hate the baseless speculation that is the NFL offseason

  4. Well yeah. SF won’t put ink to paper until after the draft in case some crazy offer is made.

  5. Lynch said yesterday he’s not getting traded, he’s under contract, and they are looking forward to getting a deal done. Any other info is for clicks.

  6. Actually, we can just keep him under his current contract for another year, without doing anything at all, because after all he is currently under contract which means he has already agreed to play for us this year, which means other teams can’t simply trade for him, you dumbass.

  7. Once again I’ll believe something happens when the 49ers actually do something I got pissed when Deebo was doing this shit and it led to nothing he’s still here and still balling

  8. This crap gets so damn tried. Nfl off-season is just so annoying. These reporters just keep making stories out of nothing.

  9. I’d only trade aiyuk for two pieces and that’d include a first rounder, plus a second/third or a capable starter. Even then I’d prefer we signed him but if the price is too high, we can’t just go lateral move and get one unproven rookie.

That’s likely too far for most teams anyway, so we’ll see. I doubt a trade happens tbh.

  10. this tweet from the 49ers ESPN beat reporters imo perfectly aligns with my thoughts on this whole aiyuk situation

    >*Repeating myself to some extent here but the idea* [*#49ers*](https://twitter.com/hashtag/49ers?src=hashtag_click) *must trade Brandon Aiyuk because of the salary cap simply isn’t rooted in reality.*

*A new deal for Aiyuk would almost certainly mean minimal ($7-11 million) cap hits in the first couple of years. By the time those numbers spike in 2026, the following highly-paid Niners would no longer be under contract (barring extensions): George Kittle, Charvarius Ward, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel.*

*They would also have outs on big-money deals for Trent Williams and Javon Hargrave that could save considerable room, if needed.*

*There are only two legitimate reasons the Niners would want/need to trade Aiyuk:*

*1. They get an offer that’s too good to pass up*
*2. His price simply goes beyond what they’re willing to pay*

*Neither has happened to this point. Could that change? Of course.*

*But the bottom line is the Niners have to start thinking of the next lucrative deals they sign as guys who will be part of the next “nucleus” of stars to build around.*

*Nick Bosa and Fred Warner will bridge the gap between the current group and the next one but Aiyuk and Brock Purdy make the most sense as guys on the current roster who would be part of the next generation.*

*The bigger question might be who else will be in that next nucleus?*

i don’t think aiyuk is going anywhere and the 49ers will get an extension done in july or august just as it’s been the case with recent extensions with deebo, bosa, and warner the past couple of years

  11. Did Ian think he was accomplishing something with this? It’s a pretty obvious statement.

  12. People are surprisingly good at wording the most obvious shit in the world as “news”.

  13. There is no way in hell that Brandon Aiyuk doesn’t re-sign, he’s Purdy’s go-to. The only people that want this to fall through are the “fans” who want to see the team go back to the dark days of J.T. O’Sullivan.

  14. The track record of WRs who go in the late first(outside of Aiyuk) is not good. You’re talking about guys like Treylon Burks, Rashod Bateman, etc. It’s not a guarantee you get a good receiver in that range.

  15. It’s crazy how cheap this team is smh. Just pay the man already, so we can draft good depth and run this shit back.
