Cooper DeJean

I see a lot of fans pulling for the kid to be picked by Green Bay. The only thing I’ve really seen about him was his punt return that was called back. That being said why is he so highly regarded?

  1. He’s a very good DB that is highly versatile. Appears to fit the description the new DC gave of the perfect post safety. With Gutey saying he wants the safeties to be interchangeable and with a vacancy in one of the starting safety spots it does seem like he may be the preferred pick.

  2. Seems to be very versatile and athletic but didn’t do agility testing which is conspicuous, since he mostly played zone where that’s less of a concern than when mirroring in man. Feels like they’re hiding a weakness. Very dynamic returner which has gained value with the new kickoff rules. Excellent tackler. Could be used effectively in blitz packages. Not a perfect pick, but could be the best combo of talent and fit if he’s there at 25z.

  3. He’s a safety. Could be a really good one tho.

He doesn’t have those greasy cornerback hips.

  4. Will likely be gone before the Packers pick. Lots of CB needy teams.

Personally, not sold on him. But I also don’t know shit about fuck.

  5. He is not a press man corner. He doesn’t fit our scheme. Maybe the Packers take him as a safety.

  6. I think he would be a better at cover 3 CB which is like the legion of boom style of CB play. He has limitations but also versatility. I just don’t think that based off what we do know of Harley’s scheme that he would be a great match at either CB or safety. I think he has the potential to be an All Pro type of dude but that’s if he is in the right scheme and they utilize his versatility to his maximum potential.

He is not your “scheme transcendent” CB1 caliber of a prospect like JA was. I was originally smitten by him but I think he just wouldn’t reach his full potential in our scheme based off what we do know. I could be totally wrong. I still really like him but I think there is a legit reason why the general consensus view we see coming from the NFL teams is mixed on him and it’s not because he is a white DB.

  8. This sub is really overthinking things with the agility tests. Feels like DK Metcalf all over again, except this time we don’t even have bad agility numbers, we just don’t know them.

He’s not a perfect fit, but you don’t draft specifically for fit. He’s incredibly talented and would find a role immediately in the defensive backfield. That’s good enough for me.
