If the market for the 3rd pick doesn’t bear out AND they like McCarthy over Maye but don’t consider JM worth the 3, I won’t hate this pick at all.
People bring up Calvin Johnson. Problem with that is Lions got Stafford the next year and still couldn’t win shit. I think that’s more the org than the Megatron pick.

Terrell Owens, Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, Larry Fitzgerald, and Antonio Brown were probably the best WR in the past 25 years. None won a SB. Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Patrick Mahomes, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady are the best QBs in the past 25 years and all won SB
Caleb Williams might be a special prospect. Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye and JJ McCarthy are absolutely NOT special prospects. Maybe one of them becomes a very good QB, maybe not, but they are definitely not unique prospects at the position. Marvin Harrison Jr is a special prospect, and he’s the best prospect in the entire draft.
Everyone wants to say how valuable pick 3 is, which I agree, but for different reasons. It’s NOT because you can take a QB, it’s because you are in position to take that special player.
If we pick at 3 and it’s anyone other than Marvin Harrison Jr, it will be a huge mistake and lost opportunity. Trading down for multiple firsts is the only reason you pass on a special prospect like MHJ. If you don’t get the trade offer you want, you take MHJ.
I don’t care if we never get pick 3 again, we will still have future opportunities to get a good QB. Josh Allen pick 7, Patrick Mahomes pick 10, neither of those picks would be able to get 3+ first rounders. Future QBs will be available, the HAUL may not.

A franchise QB is worth way more than a receiver that is almost guaranteed to be as good as Marvin Harrison Sr.. However, I do not believe any of the 3 QBs they are thinking about has a better than 30% chance to be a franchise QB. Take the guaranteed money and work use him to help elevate your next franchise QB.

I always felt you need to take the best player available, regardless of position in a draft. I just believe MHJ is the all around best player with the most upside. Make some trades and try to build around him. Jacoby can handle a couple years, he is still a good QB.
