  1. Maybe listen to the doctors when they tell you that your foot isn’t close to being healed. 5 days isn’t magically making your foot better

  2. Yeah he’s out for the year. If Waldo stays consistent though he should be a good plug in

  3. Well considering his OPS for the last three seasons was pretty average/mediocre, I don’t really view this as a huge loss but it would be nice to have a righty platoon for Rizzo.

  4. read he’s going back to NY for further examination on his foot, consider this a step back unfortunately

  5. It was just on Friday that the MRI showed a lack of healing, but yet he’s out there today and hurts it again?

  6. You mean the guy who wasn’t healing well enough to begin a rehab stint Saturday but suddenly was Tuesday had a setback?!?! Shocking!!!!

We idiots on a fucking Reddit thread saw this coming a mile away, but actual medical professionals working for the team couldn’t?!?!

  7. Is this a Texiera or Bird situation where the foot just continues to get worse before forcing them to retire/be out of the league?

  8. I think he’s done. I mean, he might literally come back to the majors, but i think he’s done being a starting player, a guy who hits for a high average with some pop. I think if we’re lucky he simply appears in like 250 games over the last couple years of the deal, but I think he’s done for 2024 and will be on egg shells for the remainder of the contract.

I liked him a lot. I wanted his extension to work out (I realize it’s technically a free agency deal, but it’s also kind of an extension) and in hindsight I would have signed him to like 4 years/$100M from the get go and let him walk after that- but instead he got 8 years/$114M (really 8 years/$106.45M with the pro-rated 2020 season) and he and Hicks are a stark reminder that Cashman’s approach of over extending on years to tamp down the AAV for luxury tax purposes backfired quite spectacularly.

  9. Doctors: You should probably get surgery on this foot to fully heal it.

    *refuses to have the surgery*

    *struggles to get better*

    *gets hurt again*

  10. I’ll always appreciate the couple of good years he had with us.

That being said, I don’t really want to see him take time away from Cabrera even if he was healthy enough to come back.

  11. I’m sorry but I’m over DJ. It was nice while it lasted but he can’t stay healthy and he’s not getting any younger.
