  1. I’ve been saying this for decades. Mandarich being a bust led directly to the rise of the packers over the next several decades.

Imagine if GB had drafted Barry Sanders instead – we would have been “good enough” to constantly *maybe* make the playoffs and that’s it. Like the Lions.

Besides, literally everyone expected Mandarich to go in the top 3, it wasn’t a reach, he was *that* dominant in college.

Unfortunately for him, the NFL banned steroids not long before he was drafted.

  2. Mandarich wasn’t even the worst draft pick the Packers made in the 80’s. That goes to the selection of Bruce Clark. Many people don’t remember it or are too young to know about it.

  3. Is there a quick explanation someone can give of “committee structure”? I assume it was some decision making structure that was updated after drafting The Incredible Bulk?

  4. Anyone else here remember the SI cover?

    “The Incredible Bulk”

Everyone thought he was going to be dominant.

  5. Mandarich was all steroids…out of college was 315. After his holdout he showed up at 295. Plus hw was being out-lifted by smaller linemen. Knew Packers were in trouble then
