interesting audio from game last night

so while i was watching some clips this morning after the game i come across panarins hit on oshie on bardown with the caption “clean or dirty.” while laughing at the comments i overhear this conversation in the background.

“he needs to go… it’s the the playoffs he should be out of the lineup…. you’re- you’re coming for mcmichael then i’m-i’m coming for panarin… doesn’t matter doesn’t matter”

at least that’s what i heard out of this, any thoughts?

  1. On the ESPN broadcast you could hear a LOT from that conversation. Then they showed that it was Wilson and Rempe talking. Wilson said he was coming for Panarin, then he said something else and Rempe laughed and said (I think) “you don’t want it” by which I guess he meant a fight.

  3. Look anywhere this is posted. The anti-rangers bias is strong. A whole bunch of “trouba taught him that dirty move” “if this was wilson, youd all lose your minds and say suspend” and “blantantly dirty hit to the head, but because its the rangers, they get away with it”

    The fuckin stupidity of ppl online never ceases to amaze. The way you see fans (and players to an extent), youd think that hockey is just out of control soccer and that the game is meant to be low contact.

    We need to implement the rules that Joe said earlier this year where self defense covers you and the guy starting the fight over a clean hit gets a 5 for fighting but his team also gets a 2 min. Only problem is that it leaves it up to bias of toronto on review. Which brings me to my next point, there needs to be a review hq (like toronto) in every division to eliiminate as much bias as possible with 5th hq somewhere. if majority review a call and see something that is the ruling. If they review a goal and 3 out of 5 say goal, then the 2 saying no goal gets overruled

  7. It’s fine. Panarin needed to make a statement and did it perfectly. Moreover, panarin tucks the elbow and doesn’t leave the ice with his “hitting foot” and drives straight through the body – hip to hip and shoulder to shoulder.

    PK and ESPN more broadly are just trying to gin up some controversy, to increase viewership since they took the first round off of ESPN+ this year. So I wouldn’t take their commentary seriously.

  11. completely clean hit and frankly, oshie had it coming. he was getting panarin with extracurriculars all night.

  12. Oshie was after Panarin all game-got away with a high stick to his face and also was seeking him out for scrums.

    Love to see this response by Panarin with a perfectly clean hit.

  13. the next game will be the true test. they’re going to get desperate and they’re going to come out hot and looking to be as dirty as possible or as needed. the first game someone on the caps chirped “going to have to play hockey tonight boys” insinuating that the rangers were going to have to rely on their power play. then the rangers scored nothing but 5v5 goals. this rangers team can play any style hockey. they just need to not run out of gas. hoping for a very short series to maximize rest for the next round. islanders need to take the next two games.

  15. Clean hit and not even with the shoulder ! It’s Panarin’s BACK that makes contact! I would argue that Oshie made contact with Panarin by not looking. It’s almost as if Panarin whiffed.

  18. When your chin is glued to your chest every hit is going to look high and dirty. Panarin hit him clean and caught him slipping up

  19. That looked like a clean hit, to me. It’s over dramatic by the head flying back, but that’s all just torso and shoulder from Panarin

  22. It was completely clean, Oshie wasn’t expecting it, that’s why he got dazed a bit. Not Panarins fault Oshie thought he was untouchable. Other than that I really think this is the Caps being baby’s because they can’t push the Rangers around like they have in the past. It’s a huge hit to their ego.
