Day 86 of posting my favorite Raiders player to wear the number of the day: Mervyn Fernandez

Another easy choice with no honorable mentions. Swervin Mervyn was the fuckin man! He played in 86 games in six seasons with the Raiders, with 50 starts and 209 pass receptions for 3,764 yards and 19 TD’s. His 209 career catches are 10th most by any receiver in Raiders’ history. His 3,764 career receiving yards ranks him number 8 all-time. But what’s most impressive is his record that still stands to this day, his 18.01 average yards per catch for his career is first among any receiver to wear the Silver and Black. I could gush about Swervin Mervyn all day, and it’s a damn shame he doesn’t have one of our SB rings on his resume.

  1. I always wondered what would happen if was on a good team. Imagine him across from Jerry rice what he could have done?

  2. I’ll never forget Fernandez. Definitely stiffed by poor QB play and all around talent of the Raiders at that time.
