This is kind of amazing. The Bears are owned by a family that really doesn’t have other businesses and they can put up two billion dollars.

I know all teams seemingly do it but $2B+ or taxpayer money seems insane to me. Chicago has so many problems that can be addressed with that money. Apparently they said it would generate $8 billion of revenue for the city but I don’t think these cities realize that investing in educational and social programs for young people will likely have a much more long term ROI, not to mention unmeasurable social value by having contributing members or society versus kids staying on the streets or homelessness.
