Wiemer – Yay or Nayyyyyyy

My opinion: Nay

He’s looked uncomfortable at the plate (still battling that awkward stance from last year) and made probably the most routine catch an error in tonight’s game against the Pirates in the bottom of the ninth.

  1. He shouldn’t be in the big leagues he’s clearly outmatched and uncomfortable.

I know we’ve had injuries that have forced him into this role but it’s not beneficial for his development.

  2. Right now, very clearly a Nay. He’s typically great defensively, but we have a lot of outfielders who can be good defensively and have a much better bat.

  3. It’s honestly nothing personal but his knees buckle on so many pitches it just doesn’t seem like he’s reading the pitch sequences correctly

  4. I try to like him, I try to give him the benefit of the doubt, but that catch tonight had me biting my nails. He needs to go back down to AAA for a few more months at least. I do think he’s got potential and isn’t a complete lost cause yet

  5. His swing and stance is just not gonna work in the big leagues imo. He’s got power but I think he needs to completely overhaul his swing to succeed
