  1. Stadium is going to be expensive, barely bigger than Solider Field, even less accessible by transit, and tax payers are footing the bill. And on top of that they are making it a turf monstrosity. Why do you need to be on the lakefront if it’s fully indoors with a roof?

  2. It’s the same design firm, so no surprise the overall design looks similar. Many architectural firms have a signature style they use across their projects

  3. Allegiant Stadium looks pretty from the outside. Inside, it’s pretty damn boring. SoFi, on the other hand, is utterly fantastic and exactly what a modern stadium should be like.

Whatever the McCaskey-led Bears decide to do, it’ll be stupid and fucked up, you can bank on that.

  4. I wouldn’t hold my breath on any of this. Friends of the parks will do whatever is in their power to kill this or delay it to oblivion. They already released a statement citing the city’s dubious shady dealings in the 78, Lincoln Yards, Casino and parking meters. Not to mention Johnson’s handling of shot spotter. The only way this can get any traction is if the Bears win now with Caleb Williams and that has to be a Super Bowl to show they’re worth it.

  5. Its actually my least favorite thing about the mock-ups, the stadium look. Not that its bad, just incredibly generic. Would have liked some style nods to the Soldier Field roots, colosseum aesthetics.

Hoping we’re in the very early going or using a placeholder for the stadium. The overly sleek look against the natural-ness of the lakefront also doesn’t quite vibe from the outside. The only blending of environment-to-stadium is the open view of the skyline, but I’d say it’s a clumsy attempt at best

  6. This is an obvious ploy to put pressure on AH to lower their tax evals. Until I see the 326 acres listed for sale, i consider this all a colossal waste of everyone’s time.

  7. This is a placeholder stadium. To get real renderings the architecture has to be complete, and no one is paying/waiting for that until after the funds are secured.

So the architecture firm did a quick rendering borrowing from previous projects they did for the purpose of presentation.

What will likely happen once funds are secured is a few preliminary concepts will be mocked up. One of those mock ups will win out, and further be refined into the finished product.

Will it look like this? maybe. maybe not. Don’t put too much stock into this.

  8. Time is a circle. Back in the 70s and 80s almost every MLB and NFL team had that three level circular stadium (Three Rivers, Riverfront, Old Busch stadium, the A’s ballpark).

Hell, even old Comisky had that look.

  9. There is no way Illinois taxpayers are paying MINIMUM 2 billion (this project will be at least 50 % over budget because it being managed by government not private sector)

  10. Considering the current one looks like someone shit a flying saucer into the old stadium, I welcome a copy of a proper stadium

  11. Please keep soldier field as the name lol that’s the hardest field name in sports

  12. Yo that window is great, Chicago skyline great, idk what allegiant stadium is supposed to be looking out to but it looks like absolutely nothing.

  13. The dome should be in the shape of a bear with the mouth being the open windows towards the city

  14. Giant TV studio …just saying, get over it. I don’t want to pay for a billionaire’s tv studio.

    Bears pay? Go

  15. Why you complaining? Stadium looks awesome and I know I’ll be there when we host the final four

  16. Only difference is in Chicago you’re getting a view of a top 5 skyline in the world during the game

  17. Whatever corporate name gets slapped on whatever they end up building, I don’t care. I’m calling it STADIUM
