Day 87 of posting my favorite Raiders player to wear the number of the day: Dave Casper

THE GHOST!! I’ve been waiting for this one. Casper was one of my dad’s favorite players growing up so I was put onto him pretty early on in my childhood, and I was instantly hooked. The way he floated through the defense and caught passes made him worthy of his nickname. Let’s talk some stats. He played in 99 games with 61 starts in two stints with the Raiders wrapped around time with Houston and Minnesota. He caught 255 passes for 3,294 yards and 35 touchdowns and was a key member of the Raiders Super Bowl 11 championship team. His five TD's in a postseason is an NFL record for tight ends that still stands to this day. Ghost was and still is my measuring stick for all TE’s, someone that could block if they needed to, but has his main focus on catching and running like a Wideout.

  1. One of my favorites from back in the day! Got to meet him at the Colosseum once, and he’s really down-to-earth too. Asked for a picture and fully expected him to send me on my way after, but he actually hung out for a bit and chatted with me about the old days, what a guy!
