Padres third baseman Manny Machado, who had to work through major knee injuries at the start of his career, made it a point this spring to seek out Lux and let him know that it’ll take some time to be fully healed from the surgery.

  1. He probably kicked at least three puppies on the way to see Gavin and spit on an old lady too.

  2. This is 100% true. I had both ACLs done. Both times, I knew in my head I was ok and could do everything I wanted to do at a year, but it didn’t feel normal for about another 6 months. It’s a long, shitty recovery, but he’ll only get better as the season goes on.

  3. I have no doubt he would do something kind and classy like this, worthy of respect, and then go right back to eating peas once at a time with a fork.

  4. Machado is a great baseball player and I was happy when we picked him up at the deadline. The guy has an attitude sometimes and can sometimes be lazy when running to first but at the end of the day I’ve always liked the guy. I could be wrong but it seems like a lot of the hate towards the guy from Dodger fans seems more like an inside joke and sarcasm.

  5. That’s great. I hear Angel Hernandez is a great neighbor. Still a bad umpire.
