So sad, he was an absolute legend. Almost all my positive memories of this team have him and Harry Neale doing the play-by-play and colour commentary together. There was truly something special about Saturday HNIC knowing those two were calling the game, I miss those days. RIP

Growing up in St John’s Newfoundland, my best friend’s father drove a taxi. Every week he would drive to the airport to pick Bob up and bring him home to CBS and would pick him up there and take him to the airport. Got a ton of cool stuff over the years. HNIC towels, pucks, signatures etc. Bob was an amazing soul. Thankfully he left a huge mark in hockey and gifted us with countless memories. RIP Bob.

Loved listening to this guy. Absolute beauty. I’ll happily tell my kid “back in my day” stories when he’s older about when HNIC was the crown jewel of hockey broadcasting.
Unrelated to this sad day, but what a fucking dump Rogers has turned it into with guys like Craig Simpson doing commentary.

Bob was, bar none, NONE, the best most electric voice in hockey broadcasting in the play-by-play booth. He was the guy every aspiring play-by-play announcer emulated. God rest his soul.
I’m devastated. No one was better at playing off the crowd. His sense of timing was immaculate.
His call on Sakic’s goal in 2002 will live with me for the rest of my days.
