[Rogers] Reflecting on his draft experience, Amon-Ra St. Brown said Detroit was the one team he didn’t want to draft him. Now, said it was the best thing that could have happened, not sure he would have excelled like this anywhere else. Said if he could do it again, he’d pay to come here.

  1. Coming off Patricia era understandable. Seemed toxic. And going from living in LA playing at USC to Detroit is huge difference

  2. He’s exactly the type of player we needed to turn it around. Notice how he didn’t have to tweet, unfollow the lions, or go on podcasts to talk about wanting a contract extension? Zero drama, all hard work. Nobody even knew the extension was in the works until leaks started coming out yesterday morning.

  3. I completely get it, that roster was a tire fire after football terrorist Matt Patricia had his grubby hands on it.

  4. This legit makes me kind of emotional. To think about how Detroit was (accurately) viewed as this toxic environment of losers and now we are a destination, and a place where guys like Amon-Ra and JG say was the best thing to happen to them is truly amazing. It is such a testament to the importance of leadership, culture, and just treating people decently. (Looking at you, Patricia, get fucked for eternity.)

  5. Honest, totally understandable. It pretty know that players never want to come here, but when they do they generally fall on love with team/city.

    Tate, marv for example.

  6. “Pay to come here” Is that because coming here made him the highest paid WR in NFL. Not like he gave us a discount 😉

All honesty he’s earned it. But that’s such an odd statement.

  7. Has Patricia ever talked about his coaching experience with the Lions? Ever admitted to mistakes?

  8. This is pretty cool to hear. Honestly, I feel like if you’re getting the chance to play in the NFL should you really care where you go first, especially as a 4th round pick. However, I can’t blame him. We were historically a bad team getting further from our playoff runs, new QB from the outside looked like was a salary dump from his old team, new coach the media is poking fun for talking about biting kneecaps. First year even was a struggle, but things like not going to a place you think you will succeed can have a DE-Motivation effect. Not with ARSB. Dude is epitome of a Dan Campbell guy.

  9. I can understand him not wanting to be here at that time. I’m glad he’s having so much success, seems like a great guy on and off the field.

  10. That dude is a true Detroit lion. The way he plays. The mentality he has. Dude is just a true stud and someone you can tell your kids to look up too with confidence

  11. Unless you live here, it’s a hard place to understand. People are tough on you, but will fight to the death for you. I love Detroit
