I’m from NJ but never really followed basketball really, does anyone know if the state lost a lot of nets fans when they left NJ?

I saw this iconic picture on an Instagram and was curious about it

  1. Every single Nets fan I know, including myself, are Nets fans who stuck with them from when they were NJ.

  2. I’m from Jersey city, and from what I’ve seen, they lost A LOT of fans (including myself) after they left NJ. I remember growing up I used to see tons of New Jersey nets jerseys here, but after that I think I’ve only seen one kid with a Brooklyn nets jersey and my professor is still a nets fan, everyone else I knew stopped following basketball. I’m a neutral fan now but I still keep up with certain teams.

  3. I followed them to Brooklyn, but it’s not the same to me. Was a huge fan, now just more of a casual fan

  4. Most of the fan base is from New Jersey which is a very small amount of us. I know Some people in New York and most of them say that people in general over there consider the nets a New Jersey team then a New York team.

  5. They Def lost a lot of fans when they moved.

I’ve been a fan since they played at Continental.

  6. Most of my boys are supporters but wouldn’t call them fans. Couldn’t tell you the starting 5. We grew up in NJ with Kidd Carter Jefferson and it was amazing. Were pushing 40 now and most don’t follow after the NJ move

  7. I can’t tell you if they lost a lot of fans since I started following them when they moved to Brooklyn, but I would say we gained a lot of fans from NYC as well. The impression from the comments is that it’s mostly NJ fans still, but from my experience you have a lot of fans from the area who never lived in NJ and follow them now.
