Anthony Rendon said he was diagnosed with a high-grade partial tear in his left hamstring. No timetable for his return but it sounds like he’ll be out a while.

  1. Everyone can get their lame jokes out of the way, especially on r/baseball, but this legit sucks.

  2. Honestly I’m just sad for the guy now. He seemed to really be trying and hustling this year. It’s ironic he got hurt legging out an infield hit. Dude can’t catch a break.

  3. Sucks that this keeps happening for him, but it definitely seems like there’s no chance he can stay healthy for any considerable length of time – I wonder what it would take for him to consider retiring a la Strasburg

  4. I know Rendon has been given such a hard time in his Angels tenure. But it did seem like he was legit trying this season. Just by his at-bats and defense. Really sorry for him

  5. It sucks because I partially tore my hamstring and the recovery was brutal. It never really felt right again and it didn’t even feel relatively normal for like a year. Y’all are going to bag on him but the hamstring was the longest lingering injury I’ve experienced.

  6. Fucking glass and paper this guy. Twenty games in and he can’t even run to first without falling apart. Thanks for keeping this franchise the league’s punchline

  7. I will admit that *a lot* of other things needed to go right for this team to have a chance this season, but a healthy Rendon was the main factor. This is a huge bummer. Hopefully he heals quickly, but unless the young guys step up in a big way, this is going to be a long season.

  8. He’s got time to relax and regroup and come back stronger and better than ever. Hope his healing process is fast and smooth.

  9. This sucks. Even though I feel like I’ve hardly ever seen him play, the few times he’s been on the field he’s actually fun to watch.

  10. Suck yes, hope he heals. But I also hope the Angels actually decide to do something about this. It’s not his fault I get it but it’s just tiring. It’s time for him to leave

  11. Rendon: “It’s four years running now. I was angry for a few days frustrated, mad. Everything that you can possibly imagine because the game just keeps getting taken away from me right. And then I want to win. I want to be out here. I don’t know what else to do.”

This sub: “this lazy thief is such a useless asshole”

  12. Glad to see people come around and see that this dude has horrible injury luck and that he’s not some anti work asshole.

Rendon looked great this season especially once he got it going – which honestly is classic Rendon give him like 30 ABs and he just starts chugging along.

This contract was an absolute disaster for the Angels, but I’m not going to be like some of the Trolls on this sub and blame Rendon for his fucking bones and muscles tearing and breaking. Dude is just glass now, no fault of his own and it’s sad to see such a great player being broken down by his body and the fan base salivating to make a joke about it

  13. Sucks for Rendon, maybe it’s time for him to consider retiring or something. His body is only going to continue to deteriorate with age and the injuries just keeps piling up. He just so happened to peak early playing for the Nats.

  14. Nothing new here. It’s something every Angels fan should already expected before season start.

  15. Buy out his contract and sunset him, he’s made of glass and not worth it at this point.

  16. Wouldn’t be surprised if he retires this year or before the end of his contract (has 2 more years left on his deal after 2024)

So sad to see him go through season ending surgeries seemingly every year (maybe he’s back in August or so)

  17. Make him sweep floors or put him on permanent community service. That contract has contributed to crippling this team
