#NFLVideos: Picks 44-54: The First Safety is Off the Board! | 2024 NFL Draft

Picks 44-54: The First Safety is Off the Board! | 2024 NFL Draft

and with the 44th pick in the 2024 NFL
DFT it the Las Vegas Raiders select
guard Jackson Powers Johnson from Oregon
interesting they announced him as a
guard played center but at his size and
his frame you could absolutely play
guards 328 lbs so the versatility the
ability to play any of those three
interior line spot CD and I was just
wondering about where they were going to
play cuz Andre James had been the center
for a long time and now you can put him
with Dylan param and now you got a set
of guards there to help out your
quarterback this been a pretty good
couple days here for Gardner menu not
only does he not get replaced they get
him Brock Bowers and now they got him a
big interior blocker here and Powers
Johnson excellent getting up to the
second level the angles are outstanding
and watch how nasty he is to finish
these third level Defenders out there in
space at the senior bow before he got
hurt he was having a great week the
ability to anchor down to be able to
settle against those power run users
that he saw this is Hall a really gifted
rusher from Ohio State they’re working
on the offense here with the Raiders I
think interesting they call him a guard
time now for Best Value presented by
Verizon Lance zline another player we
thought could go in the first round it’s
Jackson Powers Johnson Center with guard
ability obviously over 330 lbs uh at the
senior boy down to 328 at the combine he
is a guard he is a center he’s whatever
you want him to be on Long the interior
naturally he’s a center you know one of
the things that that offensive line
coaches love is when they get a center
they don’t love it when centers are 302
lb and then during the year they lose
weight and they’re about 296 and tandre
sweats across from like go that’s not a
problem here he is a legitimate 325 to
330lb player tremendous uh bouncer type
you know beer truck loader whenever you
see you know that strink throwing the
the kegs around that’s the kind of power
he has in his upper body he’s got great
upper body strength he’s got barrel
chest he can lock you out at the point
of attack and really scrap against those
big zero techniques um he’s built for
the tough stuff along the interior but I
do like he can play guard or Center that
flexibility helps too okay once again
Tom to letco Antonio Pierce best player
available this is an outstanding
Prospect this is guy that we were
talking about as a first round Talent we
expected him to go in the 20s
potentially to the Miami Dolphins he’s
available in the middle of the second
round this is a nice selection comes
right off the uh right into and plugs
and plays as a guard as a starter for
the Las Vegas and had Christian Haynes
who we’ll hear his name on at some point
today he’s a guard but when I looked at
their needs it’s just very obvious they
need a big strong Burly guard that’s
kind of what they like and he does fit
the mold because he can play both Center
and guard position you see the size he
he carries the weight really well too
yeah like that with where the Raiders
are going again trying to build up in
front of whomever ends up being their
quarterback after six quarterbacks went
in in front of their pick in the first
round with the 45th pick in the 2024 NFL
draft the Green Bay Packers select Edan
Cooper linebacker Texas
A&M and they’re not saying Cooper
either what do you think of Edan Cooper
our first linebacker to go we got a
linebacker everybody and this is and
Edan Cooper I thought he was the best
linebacker in the draft class they have
Quay Walker there who’s Ultra Ultra
explosive this is the most explosive
linebacker in this year’s draft class
here in edrian Cooper this is just
against Alabama this was a tape if you
want to see him at his best you watch
this one watch him fill in the hole
deliver a big hit he was all over the
field watch him key on the running back
show you that speed that range chest up
tack where he’s not going to go low he’s
going to get you in a real physical
tackle to finish he can mirror
quarterbacks you play against an
athletic quarterback in the NFL he can
spy him he can mirror him and he can
track him down as he did against milro
in that ball game for nextg stats
powered by AWS you see the overall
scores here when you’re looking at the
athleticism and the grades involved with
these linebackers he’s right there at
the very top CD yeah and you mentioned
the the comparison there right pretty
good comp right how about a Devon Lloyd
comp because this is also the extra part
of it is this Edan Cooper player went
from a freelance Do Your Own Thing guy
at Texas A&M over the course of time of
adding polish by getting into the film
room understanding the game better
better understanding downs and distances
splits what guards are going to do and
what you can tee off on and see Deon
Lloyd went from a really good a good
player as a rookie to an excellent
player in his second year adding a
little extra polish to his game I really
like this young man out of Texas A&M
there was talk about Dallas and him in
the first round 550 snaps of special
teams with Cooper so the this guy can
help out right away as a rookie I got
one in my second round mock there you go
I had Cooper there no I didn’t have him
there because there’s thousand trades
but yeah team meets player they want
somebody inside next to Quay Walker and
this guy was just I mean it was It was
kind of an easy call to be honest with
you because Edan Cooper is a player who
is lightning quick he is an aggressive
Striker he can play sideline to sideline
he’s a very good Blitzer and something I
think is underrated that really stood
out to me is he’s a guy that can sit
there in the middle of the defense and
spy athletic quarterbacks if you got a
quarterback it liks to get a little a
little frisky outside the pocket Edan
Cooper will just stand right there and
cause problems for you so um he did that
with Jaylen milroe and had some success
there for Texas A&M um and he’s still
getting better I think sometimes he
doesn’t always see it as cleanly as you
wanted to but when you have this kind of
speed that we’re talking about 44 speed
you can take a misstep you can miss you
know your initial read and that’s makeup
speed we talk about makeup speed at
quarterback but there’s also makeup
speed at Lineback
edrian Cooper is the newest Green Bay
Packer that was Brian balaga the Super
Bowl champion tackle from Iowa had to
wonder if maybe Cooper dein was on their
radar there at 41 when the Philadelphia
Eagles jumped up in front of them to
take the eye and that would have been
some nice symmetry there Hawkeye to
Hawkeye and they’re looking for a safety
too by the way who’s that uh Green Bay
is looking for a safety as well so keep
that in mind the next time they’re up
the Indianapolis
Colts have TR ated the 46th pick to the
Carolina
Panthers go cardiac Cass and with the
46th pick in the 2024 NFL draft the
Carolina Panthers select Jonathan Brooks
running back Texas so first linebacker
in the draft leads to our first running
back in the draft Jonathan Brook I look
he steps right in and is their most
talented Runner chuba hub’s there mil
Sanders there wi healthy now Jonathan
Brooks is coming off of an injury I
think he’s a better player look at his
ability to play through contact talk
about contact balance his is exceptional
tremendous Vision as well here’s another
example of him just breaking tackles
down there on the goal line you want to
give Bryce young an outlet out of the
back field he catches the ball very well
as you see a couple of these one-handers
and then he can make something happen
after the catch C when he gets the ball
in his hands out there in space he had a
monster year before he went down with an
injury Joel I know you saw him but this
is someone Bryce young needed help they
got him a receiver last night they
turned around and gave him somebody he
can hand the ball off to tonight it was
so unfortunate that he went down with
that knee injury he was having a
remarkable year and he didn’t have to
carry the ball much in his previous
couple of years because he sat behind
bejon Robinson and Roshan Johnson so he
only had 51 attempts in his first two
years at Texas he is a flasher he’s very
smooth I thought his best trait DJ was
his ability to not only pass protect but
also catch it out of the back field
being a threat as a running back is so
important and then the last thing
sitting with him before games in those
production meetings he is so mature he
is a leader of leaders and that’s a type
of guy you want in your locker room in
particular at the running back spot Ian
Rich you guys mentioned the knee injury
for Jonathan Brooks it is a clean ACL
tear during the season uh Dr Dan Cooper
from the Dallas Cowboys did the surgery
which is why so many people thought he
was going to Dallas my understanding is
recovery is on track and will be ready
by July 1st so before training camp JB
you can’t keep pounding unless you have
a running back that can help you keep
pound it is time for FedEx airon Ground
players to watch presented by FedEx and
he’s your top running back here Lance my
man Jonathan Brooks you know torn ACL
late in the season it was unfortunate it
was a clean tear everything is
recovering he is going to be uh on the
field this year and he’s going to be a
good player I loved watching him play
he’s got great feet he’s got loose hips
and what I really like about him is the
ability to just run instinctively
between the tackles he feels Lane
development as he gets in there he can
stack uh moves without much thought he
doesn’t you know it doesn’t take him
it’s not hard for him to get from one
move to the next move to the next move I
think when you watch him play and you
watch him smoothly go in and out of
space he has great spatial relationship
U he’s not going to have the home run
speed that’s something that is not going
to happen I don’t think he’s going to
have the long um the the long touchdown
runs but another area that you have to
love is he can get out of the back field
and cause problems for defenses and in
this football right now in this day and
age you have those two down pluggers at
running back I mean those guys are a
dime a dozen now they just don’t you
know people don’t value them then you
have a jir Gibbs who can do a little of
this and a lot of that and they’re
getting drafted in the first round
Jonathan Brooks can be a three- down
running back because he can also catch
the ball out of the back field so he may
not be as big a factor in year one but I
think year two a year remove from that
ACL tear you’re going to see a really
good running back man I just think about
how times have changed the fact that he
is torn in ACL but yet he still goes in
the second round normally when you have
serious injury nov it would be it it
would be a round of two deduction on the
final grade so it really speaks to the
talent when I looked at him he reminded
me a lot of Jamal Charles in terms of
how he’s able to do it maybe it’s the
helmet but this dude is a really really
impactful playmaker at the positions
with the 47th pick in the 2024 NFL draft
the New York football Giants select
Tyler nuben safety
Minnesota so folks in New York have
heard it hello
nuben nice before on the upper west side
now Tyler nuben is making his way to New
Jersey what do you think he the best
safety in the draft class the first one
to go so we’re seeing running backs
linebackers safeties welcome to day
number two mentioned him as the best
safety in the draft he’s got the
production to back it up 13 career
interceptions Charles tremendous
awareness tremendous ball skills for
Newan and Xavier McKenna’s gone to Green
Bay that’s a screaming need for them and
Joel you’ve seen Minnesota play Y what
is it what are they doing in developing
defensive backs up there because the
instincts are what I always see out
these Minnesota DBS especially guys in
the middle of the field Antoine Winfield
Tyler nuben their ability to range and
make plays on the football I love nuan’s
ability to do that and come down and
Tackle you took the words out of my
mouth because it’s the mentorship of
those guys in fact Tyler M nubin credits
being able to play with Antoine Winfield
and be mentored by Antoine Winfield as
what allowed him to become a better
player and develop those instincts that
you’re talking about when they play two
safeties and he can float and roam his
instincts take take over and DJ that’s
why he gets all that production just I
didn’t see it swear to you we had
linebacker and running back go with
back-to-back picks before this one so I
was like oh would it wouldn’t it be fun
if the safety gets the demons exercise
next and here it goes first of all the
positions Tyler nuban with that question
is the best football playing safety to
come out of the draft this year I think
the only thing holding the back is the
athletic profile is pretty average but
when you get past his R score which is
the big you know hot uh athletic number
that you look at he is incredibly
instinctive you’ll see he is frequently
moving on plays and and most of these
plays that you’ll watch on these exos
he’s moving on plays before anything
happens he has a great ability to read
the route feel the route read the
quarterback see where his eyes are and
he lets the eyes take him to the
football and Bucky is somebody who’s
been a wide receiver and a DB instincts
are not a given instincts can’t be
learned all the time he’s got them he
certainly has them he’s a natural
Centerfield safety and you can talk
about the athletic profile all you want
but this guy plays faster than any times
because of his instincts and awareness
and anticipation when you’re looking at
someone that can turn the ball over
Talen nuban is your guy deep middle
player can play on the hazards just has
a innate feel for where the ball is
going you can’t look it’s hard to find
guys who have ball skills and ball
awareness like he is he’s an outstanding
player with the 48th pick in the 2024
NFL draft the Jacksonville Jaguar select
Mason Smith defensive tackle
LSU yeah Mason Smith he is tall and long
you think about the Jacksonville Jaguars
with Trent balky they love guys with
with Big Time traits the upside is the
name you see on the bottom there with
Christian barmore is more of a Flash
Player coming off injury when he first
got on the field as a freshman there
everybody was raving about this is going
to be a top 10 potential pick then the
injury then was a little slow to come
back from that but when you look at him
Joel and you’re looking at trying to
build out your defensive front and you
bring over Eric Armstead who’s huge we
know about Trayvon Walker and what a
physical freak he was as the first
overall pick they’ve got some rare dudes
now just in terms of the size length and
athlet is him up front and with that
depth you also get some versatility he
played three technique just outside of
the guard of the offensive line but he
can line up everywhere he only played 22
games because of that injury so he does
need some development and there’s a lot
of talk in Jacksonville about taking
Trayvon Walker and kicking him inside
more and I think that they really want
to leave him out on the Edge Mason Smith
will lessen that abil that thought
process about moving a pass rusher like
that inside treni hedging his bets on
that one really well I want to Echo
those
there from James Stewart on the loss of
his sister but boy the Jaguars get
another big man we know that fits the
Trent balky Bill there yeah look it
certainly fits the bill for Tren balky
Tren balky is a trait guy he wants them
big he wants some physical he wants to
make sure that they check off all those
athletic profile uh Tendencies this is a
guy who look you don’t see the sack
production but what you do see is the
ruggedness at the point of attack and
I’ll be honest the Jaguars were fed up
with not being able to play The Run well
fed up with the lack of physicality and
toughness on their defense so they go
and get a guy who can wck shop on the
inside you get a chance to put him right
beside Eric Armstead yeah you have Roy
Robinson Harris but this is a pick
that’s Divine to add some physicality
and toughness to that interior yeah he’s
got traits too I mean he’s a tall long
guy along the interior and you saw they
drafted Trayvon Walker had some of the
same physical characteristics but at
defensive end he gives you some of these
characteristics along the interior where
he can stack and separate and I think he
still has to become a better football
player U but the traits are all there
he’s just has to you know the contact
balance can be a little iffy along the
interior which happens sometime with
taller prospects they don’t have the
same leverage at the point of attack so
it’ll be interesting where they line him
up along the front yeah and uh now the
Jaguars have a pair of tiger
teammates with the 49th pick in the
2024 NFL draft my hometown team the
Cincinnati Bengal select Chris Jenkins
defensive tackle
Michigan let’s
go so the first Michigan player of the
night from the defending national
champion University of Michigan
Wolverines Chris Jenkins whose dad
played in this league he is going
interestingly enough to Ohio some irony
there indeed if you’re a defensive
tackle the nickname you want is the
mutant that’s a nickname that you should
covet and that’s the nickname he earned
someone that is ultra Ultra powerful
didn’t get as many opportunities to rush
just because Michigan and Joel you know
this had handled so many teams that the
snap count was down a little bit and
with all these exotic pressures other
guys got home before he could get there
but you could not move him off the line
of scrimmage and he’s got a PhD and
playing defensive tackle from his father
and what I loved about talking with
Chris is that he had a burning desire to
leave a legacy of his own even though he
has those Bloodlines and you talked
about maybe not the the greatest
production well also part of that was
their rotation at Michigan they had five
six defensive tackles that they were
rotating in couple of them are going to
be back there aming couple them are
going to be first round picks next year
next year that’s exactly right big day
for Chris or big day for defensive
tackles and Chris Jenkins another one of
the big Bloodlines in this year’s draft
his dad great player his uncle Cullen a
great player as well Bucky and now he’s
headed to Cincinnati yeah head to
Cincinnati and this is on brand for the
Cincinnati Bengals they do a really good
job of taking brand name players from
Big schools Chris jenin comes from
Michigan and he is one of the best
testers one of the best freak athletes
that you will find when you dig into his
profile going all the way back in
Michigan this dude put up remarkable
numbers the production didn’t match
their athletic talent but we’ve seen
this time and time again for Michigan
players sometimes they just play better
as Pros because that system was more of
a collective that didn’t necessarily
create Stars this guy has a lot of
talent very intriguing Prospect look at
his dad there great player second round
pick of the Carolina Panthers and
now his son a second round pick of the
Cincinnati Bengals that was a monster um
Chris Jenkins is a defensive tackle who
is a little bit lighter also one of the
290 lb guys you know in that
neighborhood but he’s another one that
you watched him in that national
championship game against Washington
what a nightmare the Joe Moore award uh
winning offensive line from Washington
had a real real tough time with Chris
Jenkins dad went 44 overall Sun Goes 49
overall with the 50th pick in the 2024
NFL
draft the Washington Commander select
Mike
Sanel defensive back Michigan my
goodness gracious we’re turning Cadillac
Square into the big
house off goes Chris Jenkins and then
goes Mike sandr still yeah Mikey sandr
still Joel as someone who called I think
every single one of his I’m going to
give you the floor here on no no no I
want you to do I’ve been I’ve been
waiting years for moments like this He
is unbelievable in terms of his
awareness ball skills he is Johnny on
the spot always around the football you
see the physicality he plays much bigger
than his size you see it when he’s
coming up against the pass as well as
against the Run has that background as a
wide receiver that’s where those
incredible ball skills come from that’s
how you end up getting six interceptions
but as good as he is on the field as you
see here Joel everything I’ve been told
about him from a leadership standpoint a
change the culture standpoint and an
intelligence standpoint is literally off
the charts he was the best defender on
the best defense in college football and
he did so with only two years on that
side of the ball and I would Echo all of
those things he’s an incredible
individual he is a born leader and then
those ball instincts and just Natural
Instincts on the field this guy is going
to turn into one of those players that
every quarterback is going to have
nightmares about because of his
instincts and his ability to make plays
on the football by Mikey s was still
arguably the best nickel Corner uh in
this draft was a phenomenal player after
converting from wide receiver to lead
the national champions defense there bu
yeah he’s my best Little Nickel so I had
as my big nickel Mikey Sanders still is
my best little play little mean he’s my
cornerback look former wide receiver
that made the coners in the defensive
back tremendous instincts and awareness
for a guy that hasn’t played a position
long and when you watch him play nickel
Corner man he checks off the boxes in so
many areas one-on-one coverage blissing
off the edge being able to play zone if
need and then the leadership skills that
you hear when you talk to people coming
around the Michigan program this is an
A1 player from character and production
and performance he is a really good fit
for the commanders Michigan lost uh a
tremendous strength coach who went to
the Chargers was Chargers gain and Ben
Herbert and I remember Herbert I talked
to him about uh Mike Sr still and I said
tell me a little bit about this guy I’d
ask him about some of the prospects he’d
say first of all he’s a marry your
daughter type tremendous personal
character off the charts leadership off
the charts football character and I said
what what’s the athlete like he goes oh
you’re going to see it the combine let
me tell you 44740 with 151 split 40in
vertical leap almost 11t broad jump with
a sub seven uh three cone drill and a
401 short shuttle if those numbers don’t
mean anything to you what you need to
know is they’re really really excep and
he is somebody who can play from the
slot and attack the Run game in today’s
football if you’re going to play a
nickel you got to be able to defend the
Run with the 51st pick in the 2024 NFL
draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select
Zack Frasier Center West Virginia Oh I
thought I thought we were getting zenter
that would have been amazing but it’s
Zack Frasier the center from West
Virginia and they have hit the offensive
line with their first two picks in this
draft and think about last year in the
first round as well with brri Jones
they’ve just remade this entire
offensive line they’ve done it with guys
with tremendous physicality that’s
Frasier we’ll get into the wrestling
background in a minute but here is him
at work getting up to the second level
always under control but then always
looking to finish guys once he gets
there he can generate some movement in
the Run game he can torque and turn you
there at the point of attack he was fun
to watch man and then pass protection
always reworking his hands always
working to settle down and anchor down
there here’s this finish I’m talking
about watch him get all the way down to
the ground the big time wrestling
background Charles that I mentioned I
said this earlier his longest match his
junior year was 51 seconds so it was
over in a hurry you meeting the ones
that he actually probably got to wrestle
he probably had a lot of what they call
walkovers when guys just didn’t show up
to deal with him but here you think
about this with Pittsburgh it’s been
perfect chalk for them they came into
this draft wanting an offensive tackle
they got him in Troy fatano first round
they came in this draft needing a center
desperately they got one of the top
ranked ones in Zack Frasier and
Pittsburgh has a center tradition as we
all know the ranger Ray Mansfield Mike
Webster dermani Dawson Mar pouncy and
now Zack Frasier gets his shot not just
wrestling guys he loves football very
smart high IQ coaching staff at West
West Virginia raved about him obviously
but also said wherever he goes that
coaching staff is going to love him
character-wise in that locker room I
always look down when they get picked
and I pull up depth charts and I pull up
additions and subtractions and I I still
got to remind myself that Russell
Wilson’s playing quarterback along with
Justin fields for the Pitts Steelers
what they’ve done in this draft is try
and protect whoever’s back there playing
quarterback and I do believe these guys
that they’ve drafted outstanding run
blockers these two backs they have are
going to love these two additions
intelligence off the charts National
Football Foundation finalist for the
Campbell trophy which is the academic
Heisman won this year by Oregon’s boow
Knicks the new quarterback in Denver fun
stuff Peter shreer I had a GM tell me
before this draft the single toughest
player in this entire draft class is
Zack Frasier with no doubt we know about
the broken leg I’ll also add this Arthur
Smith’s team in Tennessee with derck
Henry running the ball and those big
boys up front this seems to have a bit
of that character love these two picks
and of course the Steelers do too and
the Steelers are going to be eating good
with two offensive linemen thus far in
this draft now that Frasier is gone here
Lance yeah and Steelers needed a center
it was just a matter of time what the
picks they had before they got a center
as a matter of when they would
prioritize it and here they are
prioritizing with the third best center
on the board in this draft and that is
uh Zack Fraser Zack Frasier is big and
physical but more importantly he is a
special leverage player anytime you talk
to old line coaches you tell them that a
player was a wrestler and a good
wrestler in high school oh they perk up
they perk up because they understand
leverage they have good core strength
they understand leverage so rarely are
they going to be pushed around they have
the type of power to neutralize the
bigger players and of course as you see
here in a lot of the in in in a lot of
the uh the EXO footage we have for you
he’s got Drive power as well so he’s a
little Li limited from a range
standpoint he’s not going to do a whole
lot of outside Zone he’s not going to
cut off linebackers on the second level
what he’s built for though is playing
against the big guys from guard to guard
he can double team he can play the zero
techniques right in front of him so this
is uh it gets back to kind of Steeler
football we talked about La yesterday
with fanu at left tackle dness now we
got a center who has the same kind of
toughness but this doesn’t look fun to
me hard pass hard pass on this one just
relent look at what he’s AR just
Relentless right there I did not think I
could take him oh oh my God not legal oh
go that’s what happened to Tony KH just
so violent that’s right by the way was
on uh n network earlier with the neck
brace still look at the polar bears
don’t mess with the polar bears I’m
sorry but as a as an offensive line guy
I mean see the shoulders and the big
chest trunk big trunk like that’s what
it’s supposed to look like
in toughness yeah he was drubbing my
man’s face in the mat that’s nasty
different dude right there nasty so but
you got fanu yeah at left tackle right
tackle guard and you got Zack Frasier
we’re bringing nasty back to Pittsburgh
oh Arthur Smith is letting it be know
and how they want to get down we’re
bringing nasty back to Pittsburgh this
is good Nai Harris has got to be loving
this right sitting there Russell Wilson
has got to be loving this as they you
know try to bring the you know the bully
back to the black and gold there in
Pittsburgh with the 52nd pick in the
2024 NFL draft the Indianapolis Colt
select Adonai Mitchell wide receiver
Texas let’s do
it he was my best available player he
was all the way up there at 27 from me
and this is a receiver we say it every
year at the combine Rich our booth is
right next to the Indianapolis Colts
Booth that’s correct and it does feel
like Chris Ballard pays more attention
than others because all he does is
collect guys that put on a show at the
combine you talk about athleticism and
explosiveness 434 at 205 lbs with a 39
1/2 in vertical and 114 broad jump
transferred from Georgia where you saw
him make some plays as a youngster in
big moments in big games here he is
against Michigan in a playoff game here
he is in an SEC Championship game
against Alabama as a young player on an
ultra stack Georgia team he goes to
Texas we’ve mentioned that defensive
backfield for Alabama struggled against
these two Texas wide receivers he can
run little guy routes as a big receiver
this one he hung in the air CD for about
5 Seconds it felt like in that
semi-final game against Washington again
explosive explosive explosive look at
the guys on that list look at that I
mean Anthony Richardson coming back
healthy knock on wood there Jonathan
Taylor running downhill at you Michael
Pitman Jr’s got a new contract the Josh
Downs had a nice breakout season last
year ad and I Mitchell they have Alec
Pierce as well that’s the Indian Colts
offense taking the field in the AFC
South Ian Rich if you wonder how such a
talented player Falls all the way to
where he did my understanding is it was
kind of a rough process for ad Mitchell
interviews were not great a little
disinterested was not always responsive
I know his visits didn’t go as well as
people wanted I’m not sure how big the
red flags are here but teams didn’t get
a great feel for him which let you know
why he slid where he did ad Mitchell is
the pick for the Indianapolis Colts it’s
the easy pick presented by Bud Light ad
Mitchell here the highest rated player
remaining on your board Lance zline your
31st overall players if you look at this
it’s a plus 21
value well it’s peace in my house
finally my son is a Colts fan my wife
went to University of
Texas it all comes together after a very
stressful first night when they drafted
a pass rusher that my son doesn’t know
we get the wide receiver he does AD I
Mitchell has potentially even more I
think he has the ability to become the
most talented wide receiver to come out
of Texas in this draft and that includes
obviously zavor worthy he’s just not
there yet but when you start to piece
together the you know Bucky you can’t
bake C you got to have all the
ingredients but sometimes you don’t have
them all mixed up the way you want to
but when it comes to ball skills in the
air when it comes to speed to 4340 size
he’s improving you saw the Georgia tape
and then you go watch the Texas tape
it’s noticeably better from year to year
I think that you know he drops I think
one could be there’s questions about how
he is like where he is as a wide
receiver now sure down on the field when
you’re watching them run the routes it
wasn’t great at the uh at the combine
but it was an adventure to say the least
it was an adventure but I’ll tell you
what turn this Alabama game on and it’s
bananas he is so good against Alabama
and he’s snapping routes off like I
think it’s in there you just have to get
it out all the time sometimes when you
fall in a draft a little bit it’s a
great motivator too to go out and get
get the things done that people doubted
you on and uh this is a great value pack
for Value pick for Chris Ballard NS who
really needs somebody who can stretch
the field well they’ve gone day two wide
receivers now a lot Michael Pitman with
second rounder Alec Pierce from
Cincinnati Josh DS most recent from UNC
and now ad Mitchell Buck okay this
continues the theme with the
Indianapolis Colts the Indianapolis cols
have made a concerted effort to draft
all the athletic freaks the last two to
three years they’ve drafted all the guys
that are great testers or whatever and
they wanted to put the onus on the
coaches to take these great athletes and
to turn them into great players Reggie
Wayne our former colleague here look
soon to be hall of fame wide receiver
now we have an opportunity to take a guy
who has all of the physical tools to be
a high-end wide receiver now can he
teach them how to play the game and
become a Craftsman at the spot because
if it works it’s going to pop and Chris
Ballard takes input with the 53rd pick
in the 2024 NFL draft the Washington
Commander select Ben Senate
holl give it up give it
up tight end Kansas state so they get
Ben Senate please tell me there’s a guy
named house so they can have the House
and Senate in Washington well I’ll tell
you what Adam Peters comes from San
Francisco where Kyle yuse cheek can do a
lot of different things and be a
versatile weapon a lot of people felt
like this was the Kyle yusek in this
draft he is nasty as a blocker it’s hard
to find guys that want to block at the
tight end position in college he gets
After People here’s a two for one
special then down the field he’s got
excellent athleticism to be able to
adjust and catch the ball also after the
catch the physicality so a little bit of
use check a little bit of KD and
apparently a a little bit of a give me a
hockey player I’m from San Diego my we
had one we had one last year’s draft the
defensive from Green Bay out of Iowa I I
thing remember him remember the young
man oh my goodness somebody check on
that kid that would get you in the NFL
that that would get you speaking of
where he’s playing you get a Fed get
who’s the first round kid out of Green
Bay Green Bay took last year out of Iowa
def end the edge rusher Ed rusher you
can’t ask me about guys from last name
scram his bra he just scrambled his
brain another celebration in Virginia
for the Washington commanders it
hearkens back to the days a Frank
quiek he is kind of an HB is what Ben
sended was he was very hard for me to
place in my mock draft because he’s just
different you’ll call him a tight end if
you want but he’s not really a classic
tight end he can do some blocking and
get after you he’s he’s better at the
point of attack as a blocker than uh
Brock Bowers is if you want you know
some type of context but and he is a you
know he’s physical enough to get after
you oh yeah he’s physical enough to get
after you in space I think he’s I think
he’s going to be okay as an offensive
weapon but he’s somebody that when you
add all the pieces up he’s he’s somebody
who if you’ve got a third and four and
you need to get the four yards hey let’s
th something up for Ben s put him in a
box on that hit that look a little high
everybody wants a goon we need a
goon off hockey play hockey
yeah there’s goon activity in this
highlight reel that we yes that’s and I
mean that by the way the biggest most
respect the young man was all right
there that fell down but yeah hey look
s’s not messing around I like the uh we
just keep seeing this I don’t know who
the other guy is but he doesn’t like it
we keep showing that over and over but
uh Ben Senate’s one of those guys that
he just he allows you to do a lot of
different things in the running game too
he can kind of activate the running game
because you’re moving them all over the
formation with the 54th pick in the 2024
NFL draft the Cleveland Browns select
Michael Hall Ohio State defensive tackle
gos last year they went into the draft
and got Dean Jones who was someone was a
polarizing player had all the ability in
the world just needed to grow up a
little bit become more mature that’s the
question in the exact same situation you
have at the same school here with
Michael Hall junor The ability’s always
been there he is extremely explosive you
see these flashes of him knocking guys
off the ball and you’re like how does
this guy not have 10 sacks how is he not
just a dominant player consistently but
it has been just those flashes CD he
hasn’t been a consistent player and
that’s why he was so polarizing in this
year’s draft class and because they had
success with Dean Jones they’ve have
they feel they have the ability with
their coaching staff to bring that out
of Michael Hall Jr because Dean Jones
played well before he got hurt so now
you bring in Michael Hall Jr remember up
front uh DJ Shelby Harris is there dvin
Tomlinson Quinton Jefferson Maurice
Hurst they love the rotation Jim Schwarz
is the defensive coordinator the
defensive front is the engine that
drives his defense and by the way let’s
clear it up it’s Lucas vaness the
defensive ENT from Green Bay who is the
hockey player
Joel I had them taking defensive tackle
in my mock I had it as rook and uh ororo
there it is and there it is and uh so
they stick with the position I thought
they might take it’s and it’s Michael
Hall Michael Hall Jr is an electric pass
rusher the problem is he didn’t always
show it on tape but when he got to the
Senior Bowl just completely wrecked shop
he is undersized as a defensive tackle
he’s he doesn’t have the size you’re
typically used to in terms of being able
to stack and shed hold the point but you
see he’s got some ability to really get
up under offensive lineman and give him
that long arm you know drive back into
the pocket but where he really shines is
the the arm over the foot quickness he
can get around guards and centers as a
pass rusher I think he is going to come
into Cleveland early on to be a
subpackage rusher inside be somebody who
starts to light up the interior uh of
the offensive line a rotational player
inside but he’s got real talent Michael
Hall Jr has real talent I think needs to
see if he can carry close to 300 lb but
if you want to get up the field and get
some disruptive uh snaps going Michael
Hall Jr is your guy he was north of 290
Pounds uh at his Pro Day weighed in at
290 at the combine and at his pro day
went 475 in the 40 yard dash at close to
300 bench 24 get off a 10 yard at 165
pretty good athletic stuff there Buck
for a player like Micha H yeah pretty
good Athletics up and let’s just think
about what Jim Schwarz likes to do uh
defensively like he wants to get after
he wants to make it very simple they
were a team that loves to come after you
with a fiveman rush they want to play
manto man on on the outside they want to
create one-on-one match ups at the point
of attack you talked about his arm over
mov his arm over maneuver his ability to
win with his hands he’s an impact player
he can be an impact player being a
compliment to Miles Garrett and Company
at a point of attack
