This is the Hello Kitty bobblehead queue. We’re outside section 535. The bobbleheads are at the ground floor. Not a great look, Jays & Rogers

It's possible that half of these people are ineligible. But so far we've missed the Shohei HR. Hope we make it to the 7th inning

  1. This is wild. I have never seen a giveaway gong show like this before. The last Hello Kitty bobblehead giveaway we went to a couple of years ago ran super smoothly, no lineup at all. Not sure what the hold up here is. Maybe because it’s just at one gate?

  2. Just get there at 4:00 and you get it quicker next time, sucks that they don’t have them at the gate waiting for everyone that has a ticket fuck rogers

  3. Back in my day giveaways were normal first come first serve at all gates and not an extra way to squeeze even more cash out of people!!!!1

  4. It’s probably more fun waiting in line than watching tonight’s game…. 🙁

  5. Inquiring minds must know: how much of the game did you actually get to watch after the monster queue?

  6. Holy crap…we were on the ramp b/w 100 and 200…had no idea the lineup went all the way up to 500.

  7. I’ve never seen a giveaway like this before, why didn’t they do it at the gate like other ones?

  8. Is there any world where Rogers – Canada’s premier telecom with a stranglehold on all Canadian markets it deals in (alright yeah Bell’s in there too but they don’t own a baseball team) – could just afford to make enough collectibles for every seat at capacity?

We sell out often enough and collectible days draw larger crowds. Imagine if we could afford to just make enough for everyone and give the leftovers away at the gates at the next home game. No more thousand person queues at each gate lining up 6 hours before the game so people with jobs (no offence) don’t get anything, and no more disappointment when you leave work an hour early and *still don’t get a bobblehead* because of said queues. Call me crazy but doesn’t it seem doable? We had and then didn’t give $700 million for Ohtani, what would this cost 0.05% of that per year? I know those giveaways jerseys ain’t expensive.

Also this one goes way back and is personal – but no more watching the guy at the gate give the final adult XXL giveaway jersey he had to a literal infant who would suffocate if his parents put it on him. I get it’s cute but… I don’t know come on man lol

Based on broadcast stats we’re the most watched team in the league, I want to acting like it off field because there are clearly no immediate plans to act like it on field

*edit:* I’m just realizing – if the Expos ever come back and if Bell puts in a bid there’s a decent chance they + Rogers try to out do each other to a point they’re both the top of their leagues. Here’s hoping for a Jays/Expos WS before I die

  9. When I got to the front of the lineup the workers informed you can purchase a Bobblehead at the Gate 9A for $20-$30. This wasn’t well known to many people but a few people grabbed some extras.

  10. lol is that why there was a second line up? OP did you have a speciality ticket? I was outside at 7:10 pm got thru the metal detectors at 715 and waited in line up the ramp in-between 100-200 level. There was a massive line for behind me i didn’t know what it was? Why were you in that line and not the line I was in. By 7:25 I was at the table

  11. 1. I’m realizing more and more how many horrific customer service/customer experience things in life are by design. When you realize it’s Rogers and how much of an affront it is to them to pay an extra oh I don’t know, 20 workers minimum wage for a few hours to staff a few more gates with workers to hand out the bobblehead dolls while another set of workers/security move down the line periodically telling people bobblehead dolls are only for speciality ticket holders … this is what you get.

A pair of haggard workers at Gate 9A, as far as I know, the gate ALL specialty ticket holders were told to go to, frantically trying to hand out the dolls while checking if people had the specialty tickets, while managing the lines, while answering questions …

This is by design. It’s entertainment for the élites to see overcrowded lines, overworked minimum wage workers, frustrated customers angry about a doll, while they continue to hose us on telecom, Jays tickets and the customer experience – when you think about it, what happened in the lines tonight is the same as when you’re on hold with Rogers customer service.

    2. Fuck Rogers

  12. I don’t understand; I thought in order to get the bobblehead, people with the specialty tickets had to lineup at gate 9A and then got it after they scanned their tickets. So why is there a line inside the stadium?

  13. Hang on, just so I understand correctly, people were lining up and missing the game they paid for, including seeing Ohtani’s home run, because they wanted a collectable toy? I can’t see the value in that…

  14. What happened to the days where they hand them out as you enter until they’re gone? I went to a Mariners game in Seattle a couple summers ago and that’s how they did it.
