Soto is slashing .324/.437/.588 with 7 HR and 23 RBIs in 27 games. He’s 2nd among MLB qualifiers in OBP, tied for third in RBI and tied for fifth in HR. Take away Soto and the rest of the Yankees are slashing .224/.311/.352 with a 98 wRC+.(@BryanHoch) on X

  1. Turns out 90% of the 2023 Yankees plus Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo looks and feels a lot like the rotten 2023 Yankees plus Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo.

    Who woulda thunk it !?!

  2. “Take away the team’s best performer, and the rest of the lineup is league average.”

Thats actually sort of encouraging, no?

Especially if you think guys like Judge and Torres have a lot more to offer going forward.

EDIT: Last year, if you took away our best performer (Judge), the rest of the team put up an 88 wRC+.

  3. I’m a little surprised they keep judge batting after soto, judge has hit into so many double plays so far. I know he’s going to come good but damn it’s brutal at the moment

  4. Team is 12-10 after 5-0 start. Same as last year. Only difference is w out Soto they would be under .500 right now.

  5. Will Soto want to stay if this team underachieves?

I hope he throws his weight around and demands a change in manager as part of his mega-deal. Boone seems like a great guy, but what little autonomy he’s given… he misuses.

  6. Major ‘if we regress Patrick Mahomes to the mean, he’s totally average’ vibes.
