This makes me think georgiev isn’t in his right mind sometimes. With all the rough games he had especially down the stretch (let alone throughout the whole season). Seems like the last thing you’d want to do would be to attack the guys out front who have helped net you all those wins during the season despite your own subpar goaltending a lot of times, especially if they were already kinda annoyed with your performances/inconsistencies at that point.
If you wanted to say something to mikko about his defending there just skate off to the side with him real quick and explain what you were thinking instead of being immediately confrontational with him. The players are out there working there ass off so the least you gotta do as a goalie is respect that and come at from a teaching angle with them since they aren’t going to see everything like you who has the entire ice as a vantage point.
If I recall correctly that was one of Roy’s greatest gifts as a goalie was teaching players how to play in zone without the puck, and how to defend players and take away shots and angles appropriately. The guys on the team respected him because he was an incredible communicator and got information across to them that made them better. But he wasn’t a fuck about it ever especially not if they made a mistake, he was literally taking time to teach and mentor them.
It seems aggressive and angry, but just for the sake of another angle, is it possible Georgie said something like, “I’m fucking terrible tonight” and Mikko is reacting to that? Like don’t talk like that.
I don’t really think it’s that but Georgie and Toews reaction don’t match what it looks like Mikko is screaming. I also can’t make out for sure what Mikko says after shut the fuck up and it actually looks like “I’ll fucking kill you. Fuck you” but hopefully that’s wrong.
Interesting timing to post this….especially from an Oiler fan…
I don’t know what the context is but I remember Mikko being happy with Georgie after one of his OT saves in this game. From what I know they’re friends and they’ve known each other for a while since Georgie played in Finland.
This actually seems really unlike Rantanen. And for Teows to just stand there and watch him say all that to Georgie? I would very much like to know what was said to Mikko. I have always liked Georgie and noticed he got a lot of hate this season, so I don’t like that Mikko was talking to him like that but still. That seemed personal.

Seems like an intense surge of emotions in a game that probably got hammered out in the locker room. I was an insane person as a catcher growing up playing softball. Shorts. Or he said “lekkys dad said you’re lazy”

Has Rantanaan ever taken a 5 minute major? Has he ever dropped gloves? I have two kids and can’t watch all the time but my experience is he doesn’t get that riled up against opposing players – so while I doubt this is affecting the team, I think it’s totally interesting and not nearly as bad as… say… acting like a bunch of dicks towards a homeless charity! WTF Oilers???
