  1. No sources, no relevant examples other than “hotels”, nothing in any way specific.

Not saying this didn’t happen, it very likely did. This article is just useless.

  2. This is more of an indictment on how poor *Sports Illustrated* “journalism” has become than anything about Meruelo.

  3. SI got popped for writing AI articles not long ago in college sports, this reads like AI

  4. Ahh Wysh being late to the stories as usual. 2 weeks later writing about things that were put to bed before the last game. I don’t think he or Kaplan (who I don’t mind in her role) are high on players text lists. I think what she learned about Hakstol likely came from her buddy who’s a coach at Coachella Valley

  5. This is a copy pasta for clicks. Literally no new info. And beside the first paragraph, it is unoriginal. Even the ESPN article I feel is Greg Wyshynski just taking things Craig has explained on various podcasts and putting them in an article. I do want to know the player source from the Wyshynski article because I could see it being a whiny baby like Zegras who is just trying to stay relevant.

  6. This article is very poorly written. Each paragraph is comprised of one run-on sentence. It makes it really difficult to read. That being said, I wouldn’t put it past the Meruelo regime to neglect to pay for something. That’s kind of their thing. Still, I think it’s just an amateur writer looking for some clicks by taking advantage of a media train wreck.
