  1. Nice! I know we’re all super excited about the WR room now that they added the Law Firm of rookies, but Joshua Palmer is still the only WR that we know is a legitimate NFL WR right now.

Adding a vet WR is still a must imo and I like Boyd a lot for that role. He’s capable of taking on a bigger role to start and fading back as others step up.

  2. I would love a starting trio of Palmer-McConkey-Boyd and have the other 3 be Davis-QJ- Rice/Johnson. After last season QJ needs to compete for minutes, he should not be entitled to start

  3. If we do sign Boyd then you got Palmer X, Boyd slot, Ladd and QJ compete for Z.

Palmer will do some snaps in the slot as well.

  4. I get it for the veteran presence in the room, but I hate that it makes Johnson or Rice look like a total waste of a pick. One of them would be all but guaranteed *not* to make the final roster.

  5. Do it!!!! Do it!!! Sign with us please. Would be a perfect vet to help bring on the rookies slowly. Ladd,Palmer, QJ ain’t a bad top 3. With Davis coming in for some trick plays. Then Rice can take over when guys are hurt which is guaranteed with our group.

  6. Would be a nice reliable option for Herb. I think I’d be okay if the WR group out of camp is:

    QJ

    Palmer

    Davis

    McConkey

    Boyd

Camp competition between the other rookies

I think you can get by with that if the run game is good.

  7. Boyd would be perfect for Harbaughs system. He doesn’t ask for much and plays to win games, never about stats.

  8. I would love to have Boyd in the WR room for his playmaking and veteran presence. Super reliable player! But I wouldn’t be surprised if he does go to Tennessee. His former OC is now the HC so he would be familiar with the offense.

  9. Passssss. I wana see the rookies play a couple games before we sign a VET

  10. I want Quentin Johnston to succeed, and I envision him to be properly utilized next season since we have a legitimate group of coaches. I really think they’ll play to his strengths and send him on crossing patterns and other shorter routes.

But I have an honest question especially if Boyd ends up over here: What if QJ just doesn’t get over the drops issues (mentally just can’t get over the hump in camp, poor pre-season, everyone else outperforming him)? Financially, how bad is it for the Chargers to cut their 1st round pick from last year? I would hate for this to happen, but realistically, can it actually happen?
