  1. What made you think he’d turn out good? He hasn’t thrown for over 100 yards in a game yet (he’s started 3 games) and hasn’t thrown a passing td. He’s not an nfl qb.

  2. He never Really Got A Good Chance they Didn’t Trust him As Much As They Trusted levis

  3. Did you watch him play? No hate, I hope the best for him but he didn’t show much of anything to earn a shot.

  4. He just didnt develop. Simple as that. Unfortunately the most common result for nfl prospects

  5. He’s shown nothing on the field, despite sometimes showing flashes in pre-season.

The only point i’d give in his favor, and more really in the column of “don’t shovel that last bit of dirt on the grave of his career just yet”, is that i believe Titans offensive coaching ability at every level, from assistant towel washer up to Vrabel himself, has been atrocious – absolute malpractice. So i wouldn’t give it a good chance, or even a fair chance, but i’d at least give it a “not entirely impossible” chance that under decent coaching and leadership, he might still develop into something ok.

But it’s not going to be on the Titans. He needs a fresh start bad.

  6. Malik couldn’t read the game in real time. He would act desperate when pressured instead of poised and often make a catastrophic mistake instead of the practical decision.

  7. His indecisiveness killed him. Vrabel got mad at him for not letting the ball rip. Which was a huge issue because he would hold the ball when guys were blatantly open.

There were also times where they weren’t open, so he decided to run and he wouldn’t commit to the running last second and would just get tackled. He shouldn’t get tackled as quick as he is if he just commits to running the ball and just he runs for it.

  8. Nothing in his college career indicated he’d be good. He has the raw physical talent but doesn’t seem to have the mind for the game. That doesn’t mean he isn’t intelligent, I think he is, but some players just can’t put it together.

  9. Love that the gif posted is him leaving the field on 4th down while the punt unit comes on.

Bit of context for the drive that finished just before this gif started: It started on our 37 yd line and lasted a total of 3 plays, earning a net -2 yards.

Willis had 5 completions on 16 attempts in the game, for a total of 80 passing yards on the day.

The Titans took a 14-9 lead into the half. The 3 points Willis led the team to in the second half? A Roger McCreary interception that gave the Titans the ball at the Chiefs’ 34 and led to a FG.

In the second half, Willis led the team to six punts and an end-of-game turnover on downs. In the Titans 10 final possessions of the game [which includes all of the second half], the Titans offense netted a grand total of 7 fucking yards. Over 10 possessions. None of those 10 possessions went for more than 8 yards.

Titans lost the game in OT 17-20.

So … yeah … that’s part of what happened to Malik Willis.

  10. The dude is incredibly talented. He was never really given a chance to succeed in Tennessee. I think it’s obvious the former coach didn’t like him. From his rookie year running the most predictable offense putting him in table situations. Everyone knew it was run on first down run on second down and throw on third down. Then this past season he clearly won the backup QB battle. Even before will got hurt he was the second QB. In the Baltimore game he was a sitting duck. Baltimore was all out blitzing multiple guys going unblocked hitting him before he could even finish his drop back. Not one time in that game did they utilize his athleticism by sprinting the quarterback out getting him away from the pressure. I’d always thought it was to make him look bad. Then they give the stop to will in Atlanta and were calling all these deep shots something they never did when Malik was QB. I believe that will shouldn’t be the automatic starter and it should be a QB competition. Since Malik beat him out last season and will only had one good game.

  11. Zero awareness, no accuracy, no vision, run first immediately. The only thing he did well was rarely going down on the first tackle attempt.

  12. He was thrown into a shitty situation. They destroyed what was left of him by bringing Dobbs in. Maybe he will get a second chance elsewhere but I hope it’s not in Tennessee. He’s ruined goods.

  13. He’s really bad in real life. I’ve won a few coping Super Bowls with him in Madden though.

  14. In all this (truthful) hate towards Malik’s skill as an NFL qb I would like to point out that when he came into that ravens game in London he was fun to watch. That’s my one nice thing.

  15. Funnily enough I thought he had a pretty decent preseason. Anyone who would recognize my name would know I was a big Malik truther early on. I love the dude but I’m not sure he will be starter caliber probably ever in his career – but I’d love to see him develop into a serviceable backup. That may not be here, or it may be the only place it’d be possible lol.

  16. He was never going to turn out good. He’s athletic but he’s bad at football. He’s always been bad at football. He will always be bad at football.

He swapped a schools for a reason. When he doesn’t make the 53 this year he will end up in the XFL successor next year if it lasts that long.

  17. There’s zero chance this guy got a fair shot with the prior coaching staff. I’m not saying they didn’t give him a chance… I’m saying they didn’t have the ability to develop him

  18. This was a “I just traded AJ brown for bag of lightly used mousetraps. Perhaps that was a bad idea, let me draft the athletic qb from Liberty because he vaguely looks like Steve McNair” move.

  19. A Titans coach (I will not name) said he would forget the play from sideline to huddle. Athletic but dumb.

  20. Most 1st round quarterbacks in general are busts. The hit rate gets even lower when you get into the 3rd round. The odds were stacked against him from day one.

He can’t process a field. Has no pocket presence. And had no safety blanket around him when we drafted him.

  21. It’s only his 3rd season and we’re not asking him to be the franchise QB. I’m not giving up on him becoming a decent backup even if he just runs a lot like Justin Fields.

  22. I said he’d be a bust before the draft started and before we ended up with him.

  23. They tried to tell us he was a first round pick when he was coming out of Liberty. This dude is not even a backup QB in the league
