what
I’d rather have Russell Wilson doing it, personally
This is perfect because he can just stay out there and wave Russ off the field after a return.
We got Cordarrelle Patterson?
I thought the same thing when Casey Hampton was on the team.

I would be less alarmed if I read that Gunner Olszewski was coming back to return kicks. And why in the hell would Cordarrelle Patterson not be the first option?
God I hope this was in jest. Even if they never do it, I don’t like just the fact of it being considered

In all seriousness, Justin is probably the best athlete on the team – with his size, speed, and ability to break tackles, I genuinely think he could do well on the new kickoffs. That said, I’m near positive this is just Danny Smith salivating at the thought without it actually being a serious consideration. I’d much rather have Justin and the coaching staff focused on growing him into a franchise QB than a franchise kick returner.
What’s the worst that can happen? Our backup QB gets hurt?
We are talking about a guy who rushed for over 1,100 yards in a season. He is a dynamic playmaker. You get the ball in his hands and watch magic happen.
Some of you weren’t around for Slash and it shows.
I mean he can’t possibly be worse than Gunner /s
You guys commenting that Patterson needs to be the option are forgetting that there are 2 returners. Left side and right side. Teams are going to gameplan away from Patterson so most likely the returner opposite him will actually receive them.
With Patterson and CA3 being available to return kicks, I don’t get the risk of injuring our QB2, especially when QB1 is on the older side. Seems like a silly little brainstorming session, but nothing of substance
Line fields on one side Patterson on the other and just have him lateral at this last possible second if kicked to him. It would be the most ridiculous thing ever

I think we should have Kyle Allen do it
This was from the Not Just Football podcast with Cam Heyward, and Jaylen brought it up in an almost joking manner, basically a one off line.
I’m sure the special teams coordinator is considering all options, especially given Justin Fields capabilities, but utilizing a QB2 for kickoffs is obviously foolhardy. We have CAIII and Cordarrelle Patterson, we’re set on returners.
