  1. I wasn’t a huge fan of Kapler, but his firing was the textbook definition of being a scapegoat.

  2. It’s definitely a problem when your clubhouse fucks off after losses and your young ace has to be the most mature guy in the room.

  3. What I wonder is, if Kapler was so awful in 2023, how was he not a problem in 2021?

Absolutely no one seemed to have any issue with him then. I don’t think he changed his management style.

  4. Yeah Kapler just collapsed in the second half of the season not the first

  5. He could suck, be scapegoated AND had a crap team to deal with.

All 3 statements could be true.

  6. When they were winning he was boy genius. Just not enough talent on the team.

  7. I’ve said this before and I will say it again, Kapler wasn’t the problem but also wasn’t the solution.

  8. I always thought that Kapler was a great manager when it comes to managing the game. Like look how big of a drop off our bullpen is compared to years prior. And even though fans hated it, his platoon lineup management and switching up the lineup every day put our players in the best positions to succeed. Again look at our hitters this year compared to the ones that were also here last year.

The issue with Kapler was that he wasn’t that great of a clubhouse leader, and unfortunately how he lost the locker room was a fireable offense.

  9. Managers are sin eaters – you don’t construct the roster, you don’t scout or draft, you probably only have a partial responsibility for the batting and pitching coaches.

You get shitcanned to appease fans or to fire up a team that’s performing poorly.

So while Kapler wasn’t at fault, it wasn’t unfair – he knew what his role was.

  10. Kapler wasn’t good at holding players accountable and basically being a manager. It was not a bullshit dismissal.

The issue is that they just assumed Farhan was doing an amazing job and was getting screwed by Kapler. The reality is that Farhan was probably the bigger problem of the two.

  11. We’d likely have the same results with Kapler which would only show the organizations indifference. They kinda had to fire him in that regard.

  12. So does that mean it’s BoMel’s fault too? I’m just saying look what happened with the padres last year, it’s happening to the giants now. What do both teams have in common BoMel. Just saaaayingggggg
