  1. The guy batted .344 with 24 home runs in his age 35 season.. And this came off a season in which he hit 31 homers the year prior.. I mean, I’m not exactly confident anyone on the current roster will even hit 24 homers this year.

  2. Reminder that the Giants acquired Burks for only Daryl Hamilton. This was another notch in the belt for Sabean early in his tenure when it seemed he was some super baseball genius.

  3. he was awesome. by the time he came to SF he couldn’t field much and was always at least a little injured, but he could fuckin swing the bat

  4. I love this guy. It was the year 2000 and I happened to live steps away from the hotel the giants stayed at when they visited my city. Anyway, I popped into the hotel bar for a few drinks and was hanging out with the guys. Well this dinky hotel bar closed around 11 and we didn’t want the party to end. What to do? I said I had a car we could take to the liquor store, but I needed someone to go buy the beer because I was only 20. Beer Run Burks to the rescue. I drove him in a shitty old Honda to the nearest liquor store for a 12 pack. I even let him pay for the beers. Haha. What a champ.
