[Blake Williams] “Dave Roberts said he expects there to be an adjustment for Walker Buehler with lesser velocity and not being able to blow the fastball by hitters anymore.”

He didn’t do that very well in 2022 but hopefully it was just elbow issues that have since been addressed.

Expectations: tempered.
He actually had reduced velocity in 2021 and was still effective. He was no longer blowing hitters away with 100 mph fastballs and was still a cy young contender
Not saying he’s a cy young contender now; but he’s not just a thrower. He knows how to pitch effectively and get outs with diminished stuff
Buehler will go for location, speed is secondary
I still remember the CGSO but yeah
I mean his career depends on it especially in his soon to be walk year
Doesn’t spin kinda matter more nowadays? Obviously the higher velocity the better, but can he teach himself to throw a higher spin rate FB? We all know he was sorta a sticky stuff merchant
not expecting too much, but hoping for the best in him
He should probably just be a reliever
95/96 is plenty enough to be really effective. This injury is going to force him to adjust. I think he can still do it and we don’t need him to be our ace just a solid 2/3 guy that would be most teams 1/2. I hope it takes some stress off of him
