Almost 40 years after George Foster was a Met, I still can’t stop thinking about his tenure in Queens, his extreme regression and “Get Metsmerized!”

  1. I was kid then would watch with my old man. The best description of his hitting at the stage of his career was given by my old man. Any time George would hit a home run he would be like the pitcher hit his bat. Then look at his swing always seemed to swing on one plane and never made any adjustments

  2. After retiring, he opened *George Foster’s Camera Corner* in Sunnyside. It didn’t last very long.

  3. “The Magic is Back”

Back then we changed it to “ The Tragic Is Back”

  4. As has happened often, the Mets got a really good hitter when he past his prime.

  5. Him and his black bat–I thought that bat was so cool.

He was a terrific hitter in his prime, but was trending downward when he joined the Mets, and was a truly lazy outfielder. No effort.

  6. I was so excited as a kid when the Mets got him. A guy who had hit 50 hrs on the Mets back when that was a very rare thing. Epic disappointment ensued .
