What to Do About Rashee Rice…?

How much trouble do we think Rashee Rice will be in…? Do the Chiefs suspend him more games or just throw in the towel on the guy? I saw earlier from Adam Best that the Chiefs should potentially give Rice the “Dez Bryant treatment” where he has to have a chaperone. Do we think that’d work?

  1. This team is big on individual responsibility and will act accordingly. If Rice decides to turn it around we will be unapologetic about keeping him, if he doesn’t we will probably make it a clean break in some way or another.

It just is what it is. The important part is to keep Mahomes and the others focussed – not having them be influenced by this crap. As long as that is the case we’re good, as even without rice our WR-room looks better than last year.

  2. I honestly don’t know what they should do. He has 2 altercations before the season has even started. Was really looking forward to seeing how he would improve after another training camp. It’s just disappointing.

  3. I say we keep him and bench him all season, then he’s a healthy scratch from all playoff games. But don’t cut him so someone else can swoop him up

  4. If there’s any truth to the most recent allegation I vote kicking the guy off the team, it sucks and certainly another team will scoop him up but I prefer having some integrity over winning, which I think we will do anyway without rice

  5. I’m just glad I don’t need to be the one to figure out what to do with him.

  6. Happy. Fucking. Trails.

He’s literally shitting away a GOLDEN opportunity. Even if the latest allegations turn out to be just a shakedown, he’s demonstrated that his judgement can’t be trusted.

I don’t buy “he’s a kid that made a mistake”. That’s just giving him a free pass. He’s old enough to play in the NFL, he’s old enough to understand that knucklehead, reckless or outright dangerous behavior has consequences.

  7. He’s a kid. He’s a 24 year old multi millionaire. We all act like we could handle it, but just imagine the doors that are open to him. He plays with the best quarterback in the world, on the best team in the immensely world popular NFL with the best tight end in the NFL who is dating the biggest popstar on the planet. My kid fucked up 3 times at school the other day. Cut him some slack. Learning from bad decisions helps build character. He’ll bounce back.

  8. The answer is pretty simple. Let the courts handle any potential issues of legality and the league handle any potential suspension. The front office just needs to focus on what’s best for the team on the football field. If the Chiefs cut him, some other team is going to sign him for cheap.

  9. Too soon to make any judgement about the new allegation. “Hitting a photographer” can mean anything from pushing an aggressive paparazzi out of their face to actually assaulting somebody. Need more details there.

As for the racing case, Matt Derrick said the team still expects 2-6 games.

  10. No player is bigger than the team. No athlete should be above the law.

He’s a very talented kid, but very dumb while at it. Let the law handle him. If he gets jail time for any of his charges, drop him.

NFL and NFLPA should really add something to the CBA that guys on their rookie-contracts/first years in the league should be extra careful. There should be clauses like “you do dumb shit, you banned for the remainder of your rookie contract with no team able to pick you up” or something like that because the things young athletes do recently have been so fucking dumb

  11. They’re not going to cut him, but maybe they should bench him. He needs to be humbled.

  12. Wait and see what the courts decide.

Then let Goodell decide suspensions. Because let’s be honest, he’s getting suspended.

After all that, bring him back on a very, VERY, short leash. If he gets so much as a warning for jaywalking, cut.

I don’t see a chaperone working. If this guy hasn’t learned his lesson yet, he isn’t going to.

  13. Kareem Hunt situation like a MF here. A player that, while still talented, has made some public mistakes on a team that doesn’t really abide such conduct. The thing with the racing was bad enough, but now this thing with the reporter too…man IDK. Optics aren’t great. We do also know the NFL Wheel of Fortune/Discipline is as fickle as the weather around here, so hard telling what the league will do.

To my mind, I’m sorry but yeet him. Team’s out here with the potential to become one of the most prolific sports dynasties in the 2020s and this is the type of thing teams need to not tolerate. Miss me with the “he’s a kid” stuff too—if you’re getting paid millions of dollars to play a game for a living (not to mention be idolized and looked up to by people) then you need to be held to a higher standard. I know that’ll ruffle some folks’ feathers but that’s where my head’s at.

  14. Is there no one close to him to tell him he has a target on his back and he should avoid hanging at a night club at 2am?

  15. Honestly, whatever the NFL does for suspension, the team itself should ban him an additional game or two. Actions have consequences. This dumbass needs to learn the hard way. Clearly.

  16. I’d like to know what he’s like in the locker room, and what the teammates think about him. If he’s fine in those regards, then let the courts decide.
