I have said this so many times his attempts at the rim are so low because he can’t get there(due to injury) and it is the reason why he’s jacking 3s. People are like nah he should just stop taking those. As if he’s going to teleport to the rim or something.
Thats because he’s faking injury so hard he doesn’t go to the rim. Perfect pretense. Why win games easily if you can make the other side believe you are injured.
When you are injured and facing a pair of great defenders, Dort on ball and Chet in the paint, it’s gonna be tough.
Also for people saying Luka is selfish, dude actually looks too selfless at times frequently giving up point blank layups for outside 3s by others.
Luka should honestly just sometimes finish the penetrations he make.
He needs to look to score more in paint no doubt about it.
They aren’t letting him get there, the thunder prefer to collapse and force a pass out. If the thunder adjust. To cover the 3 point line on a Luka pick n roll to make it a 2 man game then Luka will feast.
Teams are denying the easy pick and rolls and drives to the basket and Luka’s playing on one knee.
It’s hard to blow by defenders like that.
Luka’s getting that same LeBron criticism: “Why doesn’t he just drive all the time?!” completely ignoring that the paint gets collapsed as soon as he drives and he’s playing hobbled.
It’s not like back in his sophomore season where defenders allowed him to drive in at will and he was killing teams on the inside. Scouting and film exist so teams over time have learned his tendencies and are shutting that down because they understand he’s dangerous once he gets to the paint.
And 3.8 is already quite low for him to begin with if you ask me. Which site could I look for his attempts in each season?
Fouled like crazy on every drive + harder time for him to get there with the knee problem. Still ultra efficient when he can get there.
