Donovan Mitchell told Woj that he is ‘happy in Cleveland’ | NBA Countdown

and the Celtics punched their tickets to the Eastern finals on Wednesday night and in the process they sent the Cavaliers home so let’s process those Ripple effects with our senior NBA Insider Adrien w neski w Donovan Mitchell missed the last two games of that series with a calf injury and now comes an off season of uncertainty how are Donovan and the Cavs moving forward here Malika the Cavaliers did not do an availability with their players uh in the aftermath of their season ending loss but I reached out to Donovan Mitchell today uh and he was emphatic in telling that he is not disgruntled with anyone or anything in Cleveland in fact he said to me I am happy in Cleveland I’ve been happy since I’ve arrived in Cleveland and he thinks this caps team made progress this season obviously winning that best of seven first round Series against the magic to get to the conference semis for the first time since 2018 uh but as he said he’s not in this to go to the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs and even in a season where listen he wishes he could have seen what they would have look like against Boston with their full health uh through that entire series and Donovan Mitchell knows the question that is coming for him now uh in this off season about his future in Cleveland he said to me I know I’ve got decisions to make this this offseason my agent and I will talk to Cleveland about that uh at the right time uh but he emphasized that I am not leaving this season unhappy I’m leaving it more determined and listen among those decisions for Donovan Mitchell uh he he could sign an extension this summer with the Cavaliers and looming in 2025 is his possible free agency right and that’s such an important distinction leaving determined versus leaving unhappy this season in the rearview and now he’s going to have some things to think over before we get to the off seon [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
