AWESOME RED WINGS & CANUCKS NEWS: AXEL SANDIN-PELLIKKA & JONATHAN LEKKERIMAKI
[Music] all right so we have ourselves a really interesting update of the European hockey scene I want to turn your attention to this website right here this is eurohockey clubs.com and what this is is of course the corporation or the alliance of all the hockey clubs in Europe so teams from the shl teams from the Czech League teams from The Finnish Liga etc etc this is a pretty big deal and every year there is the annual EHC Awards where fans can actually go out there and vote for who they think is the club of the year the young Player of the Year coach of the year and the I don’t know they say it’s the warrior award whatever that means I mean lonus allmark and valter filpula are nominated for that so that’s kind of interesting but what I wanted to do with this idea was talk about the young Player of the Year award which if you go over to the website and you take a look at the nominees You’ve Got Five Guys Burgers and Fries and they all go as follows vly kenin of carpot ULU you might actually remember him because he was acquired by Pittsburgh in the Jake gensel trade Jonathan laraki from arbro Hockey Club Yanni Newman from ilis T Axel sandine pel from scfa aik and Yuri tiek from r cadno now you know I’m a Red Wings fan you know I’m a Canucks fan so what I wanted to do was talk about the two guys from my favorite teams and whether or not they actually have a chance to win this award now the thing is if you go over to Detroit hockey now there was an article published about this yesterday by Bob Duff Red Wings pick as a finalist for top European award I wanted to use this article to go into this topic because when it comes to the Red Wings nominee Axel sandine pel he actually is following up in some pretty significant footsteps by being a nominee for the European hockey club’s young player of the year now young player of the year I assume that means under 20 I mean that’s normally what Junior refers to in this kind of capacity but I don’t know it’s a little different I mean Yan laraki is a bit older so who really knows but Axel sandan pelica this season had seven points in 14 scalf aik playoff games and 18 points in 39 regular season games he was such a monster such a good player for being so young as a right-handed offensively minded defenseman he was one of the better scorers amongst u20 shl defenders in the past few years so he certainly is giving a lot of Red Wings fans things to cheer about but if you go back over to this Bob Duff piece it goes out there and talks about how ASP has indeed been nominated for the award and also how Red Wings draes have won this award in each of the past 3 years now it’s ASP task to try and extend that streak to four cons itive Seasons take a look at the former winners of this award beginning in 2021 this honor has proven to be exclusive property of the future of the Detroit Red Wings Detroit defenseman morett cider won the EHC young Player of the Year in 2021 in 2022 Grand Rapids Griffins forward Elmer soderblom would follow up by winning and last year the recognition went to another current Griffins player defenseman William vinder and with this in mind it kind of becomes you know a a little bit predictable to say hey wait a minute there are a lot of Red Wings guys that win this award Mor at cider winning in 2021 was understandable because in that season he was playing for rega and he was so good I mean Mor ciders draft plus two year 2020 2021 was just amazing 28 points 41 games played he was a defensive monster and I think a lot of people remember cider really developing his hype train because of that season in Sweden he wasn’t really too amazing in his first year with Grand Rapid but the year after that’s when he popped off and then of course he made his debut the next season with Detroit and won the Rookie of the Year in the NHL so the rest was history there with morett cider if you want to talk about Elmer Soder Blom winning the award the next season in 2021 2022 hey he was an absolute monster for frol Linda on the score sheet and quite literally because I mean Elmer sown 6’8 at 22 years old so he had 33 points in 52 games played that season with Funda was awarded of course the top young player in Europe and you know ever since then he played in Detroit he played in Grand Rapids this season he had 29 Points in 61 games played I feel like Soder Blom could get better like there certainly is a bigger capacity for him to improve at the NHL level he’s only 22 so it’s not like he’s totally cooked but still Elmer sord Blom has been doing some pretty good things and then of course last year you had vilam vinder winning the same award if you go over to Wallander and his overall profile I mean his Grand Rapid season this year was okay 15 points 65 games played but last year 26 points and 50 games for rega just an absolute Dynamo on this feat he could produce points his skating was exceptional it’s why he was taken So High by the Red Wings in 2020s NHL draft in the first place but now it’s ASP going out there and potentially challenging to take this award if you go back over to the Bob Duff article on Detroit hockey now it does say that even though the wings have had three straight winners of this award and and ASP should be next in line if you wanted to follow that pattern it could prove challenging for ASP to keep the streak going because in the shl it was the future Vancouver connect player laraki who was given recognition as the Rookie of the Year and that of course I’d say is probably the biggest challenge for Axel sandan pel if you wanted to say that he’s got this award Jonathan laraki for arbro HK was an absolute monster 31 points 46 games played 19 goals and now he’s with the Vancouver kcks with the main team there were rumors about him potentially playing in game five yesterday but he ended up not in favor of Phil deppi and Neils hoglander but either way yanit and the Kaki was a guy who started lighting the lamp I feel like his entire story played into why he was seen as such an amazing young talent in this year’s shl play the fact that he was a top prospect and then he had a really bad season last year how he battled mono how he slowly recovered from that how he never really recovered from that and how his numbers suffered in the process only to go from an Al fensin profile where he only had nine points in 29 games played to the 31 points he had in 46 shl games so literally getting a promotion and getting higher numbers at the same time not to mention the fact that he really is just good so for laraki being in the position he’s at I mean he already had that Rookie of the Year in the shl is it the EHC European hockey clubs award that’s next up I mean you don’t want to go out there and completely discredit everybody else I mean vly kenin Yanni Newman Tek these guys are doing some pretty good things and I think when it comes to a lot of these guys there’s a good argument to have I mean vly kenin was a point per game this year in the Finish Liga which was crazy and now that guy’s going to be going over to Pittsburgh because he was traded over Yanni Newman same thing not necessarily a point per game guy but still very very good for ilis in the lia he was just under a point per game game and then if you go over to Yuri tiek I mean he’s a defenseman so it’s a little bit different but there was a lot of prosperity with tiek and his profile 59 defenseman still under a point per game in the czechia league so honestly when you talk about production you just want to talk about straight numbers laraki and axel sanding pel are actually the worst guys here kin and Newman and Tek all had much better Point production metrics but the thing is a lot of these guys are a tad older I mean what yri Tek even though he was under a point per game he’s 21 years old so Axel sandin pela and Jonathan the Kaki they’re technically going up against older guys does that make their case a little bit better who really knows the award is not best Junior player it’s best young player so I guess young player encapsulates everybody underneath the age of 20 whatever but either way if you’re a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins or I guess it could say the Carolina Hurricanes too because yall had villy kenin first before you traded him over if you’re a fan of the kxs fan of the Detroit redings when you’re opinions on the F Raven young Player of the Year award handed out by the Euro hockey club’s website you can vote for this by yourself on the link in the description I’m not going to do that myself because I’m tampering if I do that technically you know making videos about this stuff so I’ll just stay out of the race for now but let me know your thoughts in the comments section below when it comes to the young European Player of the Year who do you go with vly kin and of carpot Jonathan the Kaki of arbro Yanni Newman of ilis Axel sandin pelica of scalf aik or Yuri th check of rtii clno let me know your thoughts in the comment section below I hope you enjoyed this v99 and bye [Music] [Music]

Best time to be a Canucks fan right now
If I remember correctly, Seider had been expected to make the Red Wings in the fall of 2020, but then the pandemic hit and the SHL figured out how to have a 2020-21 season amidst the pandemic before the NHL did. Therefore, the Red Wings decided to loan Seider (and Raymond and Veleno) to SHL teams, knowing that they would be unavailable for the NHL if there was a 2021 season, because the important thing was making sure that these young players would be playing somewhere.
