Frame uh you ran with the rumor mill story yesterday that came out saw it everywhere I saw it in Bleacher Report first at L um yesterday it said that Toronto’s Mitch Marner could possibly be moved with one year remaining on his contract which is about $1 million per year well yesterday before the story even came out on air show we were both in agreement that vgk needs some help in the top six and the fans were up in arms with your response Mr gock everyone kept call a playoff ghost is the word I keep hearing about him in the 2223 playoffs Leafs won 11 games he had 14 points um my perspective was pretty simple and it was in response to what you and I talked about on Thursday’s show the golden knights assuming uh Jonathan marcheso is not going to be part of the equation what’s the path is it going to be a tuo Terrain and someone we we highlighted yesterday for a few moments in the show do they go for a superstar or do they go for you know two or three two-ish to3 million type of players to Hope one of those players pops and then this I for I don’t know what publication started but one of the one of the pot sters not even me one of the pot stering websites out there says Marner to Vegas and I know I didn’t think much of it like most of these things you know and then someone said something on Twitter about it I’m like okay let’s just look at Mitch Marner really fast and I see for the last four seasons he has played at a 100 points Pace last five seasons really actually going back to 1920 he performs at nearly a 100 Point Pace in the regular season 100 points okay gold could could use 100 points you know so why not and then the mock that we keep hearing is Shay Theodore in a first Mitch martyr we’ve been trying to we we’ve been trying to shop Shay Theodore yeah know I mean definitely but I mean that Theodore I think is in the same boat right I think Theodore is one year left in his contract if I’m not mistaken and you know he didn’t have the best playoff last year someone wanted to argue about how amazing he was in the 1920 playoffs I’m like cool good for him but but you know does that trade make sense for both I think it makes more sense for Vegas than it does Toronto I think Toronto is the one losing out on that side of the deal personally okay and so just a reminder here for vgk fans that Vegas has no putting a a uh disclaimer out there right now so something crazy is about to be said go no the golden knights they can sign anyone everyone’s 11 million i’ never there’s no salary cap here in Las Vegas folks Marner has a no move clause in his contract and I do like uh shipping Shay Theodore and vk’s first rounder this year for Marner although that would be all their picks I think and they wouldn’t have a pick at the sphere I don’t know if they wouldn’t have a they wouldn’t definitely have a first- round pick and to be fair Kelly McMan has made a comment along the lines of the fact that the first round pick is pretty important to the team after after listening to the show after listening to the show yeah that the first round pi pick is very important to the team so I mean I I get that I I understand and it’s the first pick and it’s the sphere and everything but the end of the day a draft a first round draft pick being at the sphere in Las Vegas at the home of the Vegas golden knights the city at least it ain’t G to stop McMan from moving it whether it involves AO terrain and whether it involves that to be a free agent but whether involves anyone out there there there’s no pick there’s no draft pick that is safe with the golden knights and say it again I mean I know some one of the best comments I did see after everyone wanted to drag me up and down the strip was the fact that how many of these points that Mitch Marner got are a result of being out there with Austin Matthews and that’s fair that’s fair but I mean dude’s been doing it for a long time and he’s gota be doing something right yeah and we did have a the intern posted a take of the week dasco leoner GOC Marner Marner 57% and one of the comments there Tony’s Take on leoner is the worst thing you can post not on April 1st it’s pretty good yeah that was good okay so that vgk needs a stinking score they need a score Chris they have never had a 100o player and I see where you’re coming from and three times or more Marner has had 94 points or better yeah and those were all 100 Point Paces for the most part if you look at a couple Gam games lost and things like that so he won’t be on the but he won’t be on the 100 Point list here because he’s insured at least a couple of one to two dayt days and possibly the good old-fashioned ltir and just 27 years old they’ll sign him for 10 years and then you know for they’ll sign a 10-year deal there’s no doubt and like in five years from now this team’s all going to be in their 40s so one thing I will say say is a lot of the chirps and I do appreciate everyone jumping in whether you agree or whether you don’t agree I could care less but the interaction is fun and it’s interesting as long as we can get past uh all the drama of social media and have a real conversation which probably about 95% of us have so I definitely appreciate that and one of the comments that I got was well the golden knights all their runs they’re doing this without having a single person scoring in the 70 point range and stuff like that okay fine cool but one of our show topics yesterday I believe was was K Cassidy system outdated last season that was two days ago catching on two days ago okay our team’s catching on to the Vegas golden knights right now and the answer is is is Cassie system outdated not really are people catching up to the Vegas golden kns sure they’re Stanley Cup champions and everyone is was game planning for them last season so maybe this is the time to shake things up a little bit maybe it’s not about having a bunch of 40 50 and 60 point players but you have someone who is statistically A Difference Maker and the playoff talk I get all that I do but who shows up in Toronto for the playoffs How You Gonna hang how you GNA hang uh Mitch Mar the playoff failures of the lease on Mitch Marner when there’s a lot of really good players and this isn’t um it was like it’s like blaming eel for the problems in Buffalo like there’s so much more to that situation and listen at the end of the day if Kelly mccrimon feels Mitch Marner will be better in Vegas than he is in Toronto M McMan has my full supports and I’m very comfortable going that route if McMan feels that’s what’s best for the Vegas golden knights okay and Adam Oats the Hall of Famer saying yesterday that Mitch Marner should not be the scapegoat should not be the scape goat in Toronto because he’s done so many positive things but they are looking to re their team there um and so up in Toronto is Toronto up or down from here cassid would say that’s down in Toronto it’s down from Detroit there you go it is down from Detroit okay that’s W no that’s Windsor never mind that’s Windsor that’s okay all sorts of trade rumors for Marner so last night it was 2 am and I’m looking around and I see the Predators he’s going to the PRS and then he’s going to the Blue Jackets and then the Ducks the oers Pittsburgh and Chicago in here to Las Vegas no move Clause I think Stills in effect where would he much rather be Columbus or Vegas God that’s tough that’s it’s tough that’s I have to do some research between between those two cities and see which one’s more entertaining and which one has better tax benefits and which team is closer to performing well I’ll get back to you does this guy like BLTs that’s the most important factor so so seriously though are you just assuming this is again if maraso does not come back yeah I mean that’s if you have a mar where would you play him where would you play him Top Line a plenty um you know that that’s interesting because you have eel who’s got that playmaker ability in him and eel obviously is a better passer than he is scorer and the same could be said about Mitch martyr I mean you look at all these assists here I mean the bubble year he gets 47 assists which would have adjusted to probably about 70 assists maybe 65 assists so just for round numbers he’s basically at a 65 to 70 assist Pace now is when you start talking about one of the kids either Bran or dorv playing alongside of this guy he will make those types of players he will he will jump starts Bran’s career again we’re talking way ahead of ourselves right now way ahead of our hypothetically hypothetically yeah um but I mean hurdle bran and who else would be on that second line up there Howen I don’t know just throwing names out there right now I can’t remember what we talked about um in our show yesterday but um you know barbashev barbashev hurdle Mitch Marr I mean you think about a line like that or something where you could have two very good scores and then Mitch Marner obviously creating space and everything so like I said I mean trust Kelly McMan and if McMan thinks now is the time to instead of going the Money Ball route you need that 100o Superstar if mccrimon that’s what MC griman says then yeah and I’ll tell you right now coach Cassie is goingon to know the player Mitch Marner pretty well Toronto Atlantic division Boston Bruins Atlantic division they’ve competed probably close to 100 no to probably about 60 70 80 times over the last you know over during cass’s tenure before they came here so I mean why not why not maybe about me have 50 times but yeah okay so let’s just assume you get rid of uh the Maro salary of about 5 million 5 million for shade Theodore um and then do you you’re going to have to extend Marr though because he’s not just going to come to Las Vegas and lift his no trade clause without getting an ex exension uh for at least 11 11 plus 27 years old that’s the crazy part I keep thinking that he’s a little bit older because he’s been around for a minute I mean hypothetically that’s what the the theme is going to be today but remember you have salary cap jumps coming in each of the subsequent years as far as the NHL is concerned let me see if I can dig it up really fast but it’s going up four it’s going up uh $45 million to next season and I think another three and something and then more each year so yes it’ll be tight but if there’s one team that knows how to manage a tight salary cap like you said the start of the show it’s pretty easy for the gold Knights to find a way to to do things manipulate 25 26 92 million so 88 million and then 92 million so I mean you look at it like that right there all of a sudden that contract isn’t as hard to eat you’re you’re you’re paying Mitch Marner $ two to three million and you’re you’re hiding the rest of the money in the salary Camp increase GOC did you load up on all those Marner cards yesterday on the trading cards come on man I did I actually so your Rangers Tony I I actually did write an article about Alexis lafier about uh if now is the time to buy sell hold or hedge on laughr cards just hang on coming out at 7: am on the hockey news looking to acquire cards this is actually still not a bad time to buy Alexis lafr cards because the supply and demand is going to be very unique because of people who are looking to sell off right now maid men the maid now they call themselves this okay uh the maid men AKA George MC and Kelly mccrimon the two used car salesmen uh they saw the golden knights drop the first round series to Dallas okay now if you look at this vgk team over a period of three seasons okay three years ago they missed the playoffs last year they struck gold uh gold and they won the Stanley Cup and now a first round exit this season how long will the mix if you will milk the cup now here in Las Vegas and when will Bill Foley put more heat on these two May men exec I think Bill Foley understands the business of the NH NHL equal to or greater than all the owners in the NHL um he’s been there a short time but in that short time you look at what the team has accomplished Bill Foley I think going back not to Mark Andre flurry but to Nate Schmidt I think the Nate Schmidt trade was really the first trade that showed fully how you know cruel for lack of better term the business of the National Hockey League is as far as moving players around who didn’t love Nate Schmidt when he was here defensive liability at times but who isn’t these days for the golden KN Shay Theodore um but after that then obviously the Mark Andre flurry trade happens then Riley Smith so my point is that bill Foley’s skin is getting just as thick as any other executive and owner in the National Hockey League so where I’m going with this is the fact that just like McMan and MC as far as coaching goes and not tolerating a coach losing the locker room or not tolerating a long succession of losses and mediocre play which obviously galance and Pete dor know about and they got fired only after two and a half Seasons with the team the same will go uphill at some point no one is going to be safe I think in the National Hockey League front office no one’s going to be safe in a golden KN situation if the team isn’t performing so now you start looking you know start peeling the onion back a little bit here last three seasons golden knights are like first third and second or something like that in Man games lost due to injury now I think Robin Leonard’s total counts get against that but still even if you take Leonard Leonard’s numbers out of there the gold Knights are still comfortably probably in the top five for the last three seasons I didn’t go any F farther back than that right now who is at fault for this roster and this aging roster and the situation the golden knights keep finding themselves and well the answer is going to be MCC and MC they’re the ones who do make this roster and now all of a sudden you look at all the money that Foley’s put into this team all the players he’s gone out and allowed McMan and MC to get you know he’s not he has not just won Championship let’s be clear about this fy’s ego is as big as any uh any owner and he wants to win win the Stanley Cup every single year and if that starts to slip away a little bit at some point there’s going to be some pressure applied as early as next season if the golden knights uh they’re in the same boat if they’re struggling to make the playoffs if they come in as an eight seed and stuff like that the seed isn’t just hot hot for Cassidy at that point it’s hot for everybody yeah and I am sure that Foley will have a minimum for this upcoming season now yes he does want to win the cup but he also wants his team to perform well in the regular season so they don’t put themselves in a position where they’re playing the top seed where they’re not a number eight and again injuries not withstanding he doesn’t he’s not concerned about the injuries trust me at the end of the day he just wants to win and win again right so they have to finish first or second I would think at the minimum and they also are going to have to make it at least through a couple of playoff series so he makes more money on concessions because he’s going broke man yeah he’s going broke uh he’ll go buy another soccer team or something like that but that’s that’s the thing I mean at the end of the day when you’re a business owner whether it’s that level or my level or our levels doing entrepreneurs whatever it is if you’re not making money the business doesn’t work out as well as you would like it to and then that’s when changes get made to whether it’s me trying to put different prices on my cards and my brakes and stuff like that or whether it is a business owner you know looking at concession prices because the ticket sales are all of a sudden starting to slip a little bit or because the team is not making it out of the first round of the playoffs I mean all these things definitely do matter and yes McMan and MC Fe feels like they’re in a good spot right now today and you know this is almost um the hot seat uh debate that you and I had a couple weeks ago that got that got me lit on fire even though you were the one Tony that said c you’s on the hot seat and I said it’s a little bit warm let’s see what happens next year well the same what definitely is going to apply to McMan and MC right now if the golden knights as a whole are struggling throughout next season and if they’re if come January they are not in a playoff position a secure playoff position for that matter that’s when things will start to be looked at and yes it’ll of course it always starts with the coach let’s be clear about this but let’s just go really far ahead right now in our our in our not in our snow globe in our sphere hear me out for a second just come on in let’s go if Cassidy fails this season that will be a direct reflection on those two again yes so would be the first to go if M again like hey if uh Bruce Cassidy the suntan kid if he goes arai and then and then we know that mc mc griman G it’s got to happen it’s a reverse of what’s happening in Los Angeles right now Rob Blake has made some interesting moves as the GM Pier Luke DUIs obviously of course is going to be the one although he’s doing well in in the team Canada stuff in the world right now but we’ll figure that out later um but the coach goes first right the coach goes first and then the coach the coach iring isn’t necessarily the general manager sending a message it’s the general manager maybe sending a message to the owner like hey this this this this is going to work this roster is going to work well okay fine again we’re going way ahead of ourselves but let’s just pretend January comes the gold kns are 10th in the west cassy’s lost the locker room completely and it’s it’s a matter of time and then come January 11th all of a sudden here’s the in the morning McMan uh given uh no it won’t even be a press conference it’ll be a future endeavors tweet um from uh from the team about moving on from coach Cassidy and then go ahead another year the team is still struggling come December that’s when all of a sudden uh the the the front office is really going to be closely looked at and so yeah they go hand in hand they go hand in hand no doubt and while while at Washington uh MC um his team’s seven times won the division but he’s only made it prior to come to Las Vegas the Stanley Cup Final in 1997 when he lost to Detroit and so the beginning of the end who knows but they do have to win and you look at two of the last three seasons were Clunkers were absolute Clunkers where they don’t make the playoffs they just going through some of these comments here like Andy code United Cod Coden United yes let’s help the Leafs by taking 11 million off their top six so they can increase their depth and degrade our depth to become the become the Leafs okay fine the def V vk’s defense is okay and if Jay theore were to go in a trade vk’s defense will still be fine I promise you that he’s missed 62 games in the last two regular seasons and I think someone said he failed to I think play greater than seven or 60 games and four last five something like that whatever so that’s the first WTF right there and just going through all of this uh let’s see I know there’s a few more here 11 million for a 30 goal scor is tough Vegas has enough Playmakers okay fine whatever to that um there you go my buddy condos actually gives a a good perspective here there isn’t a reason to trade for playoff charman Marner on their team regular season Marner 194 goals 576 games playoff Marner 11 goals 57 games soft finesse player okay fine condos finally comes in and uh you know gives a very reasonable perspective and then Ian says the Leafs are not trading for him a spot of strength since everyone knows that they have to trade him well Ian I’m going to remind you that it doesn’t mean anything in today’s NHL because the entire league knew that the golden knights needed to trade Mark Andre flurry and the result was uh uh a nobody Prospect who was I think shipped overseas before the season even started so position of strength whatever it may have you if the trade needs to happen it’s going to happen whether it’s the leaves working with Vegas or Chicago or any of the other uh Nashville I think you mentioned off the a Tony before he came on all these different spots where it could end up happening it’ll happen if it needs to happen so WTF for everyone for chirping in here but the last thing I will simply say is if Kelly McMan thinks Mitch Marner should wear the golden knights logo on his jersey it’ll happen and if it does happen it’s going to be fine and one more thing I will leave everybody with someone made a comment on my on my thread that everyone in Vegas was all excited when the Jack eel trade went down and Alex tuck the Beloved Alex tuck was shipped out I call BS on that one how many people in Vegas were very concerned because what do we know about eel at the time locker room cancer doesn’t show up in the playoffs but no one shows up in the playoffs in Buffalo um all these negative things about eel is all we heard in Vegas so there was concern there there was there was legit concern there that Alex tuck should have been here and Jack eel should not have been here well things worked out okay in the end with that so just just trust just trust Kelly mccm and everybody that’s all WTF one and done today one and done okay uh you’re gonna have to help me look up some more wtfs here because I didn’t get any sleep last night uh we’ve got vgk fan in Toronto uh WTF I must say I’m interested in seeing this team improve as much as the next guy if Marner is a solution so be it but would also love it if marsho is in this lineup just saying WTF um our good friend X rebore fan X um people have been doing exposing parts of their body flashing if you will and um yeah so that’s where rig is coming from rig is sicko but uh WTF there and then I got Tri like six more times about the Marner takes here like come on I know do you have at vgk muy uh WTF is Chris thinking with Marner being a good idea for Vegas he’s a great player i’ left him here in Gold but it’s not what we need in the slightest we have an elite playmaker already what’s wrong with two Elite Playmakers seriously what’s wrong with having two Elite Playmakers in your lineup is he talking about Carlson as the other like who’s the other Elite no he didn’t say 200 foot Talent Tony yes this is true okay I had I couldn’t get through an episode on WTF without mentioning Vegas Bjorn we appreciate everyone tuning
