MARTIN NECAS TRADE UPDATE: MONTREAL CANADIENS OFFER SHEET? Habs News & Rumours

[Music] well this has been a conversation that has circulated the Montreal Canadian social media Pages the past little while so I wanted to go out there and make a video just talking about this guy as well as introducing some of the other names that have popped around the Montreal Canadians trade rumor mill as well the main guy that everybody seems to be talking about in regards to to the Montreal Canadians and potential trade targets is none other than Carolina Hurricanes forward Marty NES and if you don’t know where this is coming from then okay that’s great we’ll get into all this and more but before we dive into some of the ideas that are tossed around there let’s talk about Marty NES as a player because this certainly is a guy that I think is worth talking about NES is 25 years old 62 198 right-handed center right winger and his contract goes on till the end of this season and and it expires at $3 million a year he’s an RFA with arbitration rights and his qualifying offer is $3.5 million now the thing is if you want to take a look at Marty NES from last year yeah he certainly was overplaying the $3 million price tag that he had he had 71 points in 82 games played a super amazing talent this season though you could say that he declined a bit he had only 53 points in 77 games but he actually outproduced his postseason numbers this playoffs he had nine points in 11 games played last year he had seven points in 15 games so Marty NES has showed up when the going gets tough when his team needs points he goes out there and produces he had pretty good back-to-back Seasons with of course the two years ago season being more impressive points per game-wise than this previous one but when it comes to Marty hus the big thing that everybody is talking about is what was reported by Elliot fredman on a recent episode of the 32 thoughts podcast take a look at this quote made on the our buffalo saber subred it goes out there with the quote here Elliot fredman said this about Martin n’s resigning it probably won’t work out there the canes are not going to do what n wants to do on Brad peshy resigning it doesn’t seem likely fredman also talked about Carolina potentially buying out yper cot kinami now this is of course a big collateral damage piece of news lots of stuff going out there and being thrown against the wall but with the idea of Martin hes potentially not reigning with the Hurricanes you have to start wondering okay where do the canes go with this because nus is an RFA it’s not like he can just Up and Away leave whenever he wants he has some options here he could sign an offer sheet but then the Carolina Hurricanes would have the option to match that he could just hold out and not sign any contract allaha William neander but that of course would result in an extended season’s worth of time being lost if it were to go past a certain point in December and then there is the demanding a trade option which could be seen as a possibility here if it’s very evident that he does not want to stay in Carolina this was then pushed further by Mark Olivier bodan on Twitter who went out there and quote tweeted the fredman podcast episode well Elliot fredman believes that Martin hes in the Hurricanes will have difficulty agreeing to terms on a contract extension and therefore he should be traded with which of course is feeding into all the Montreal Canadians fans that follow this guy into talking about NES as an option for the Habs even more a reply asks can someone explained to me like I’m five why Hab fans think so much of this guy and Mark Olivier then replies the Habs need a young talented forward that can produce zis is also a young talented forward that can produce I agree but nus is a middle SE player the Habs will have a lot of those as well on the pipeline the Habs need a lead Talent why spend a big ass for what we don’t need oh sorry Mark Olivier replies I just noticed you wrote this under the NES tweet but it still works and in my opinion the Habs have no forwards in the pipeline that will become a nus who is a clear top six forward and that’s kind of the thing here there are some comparisons that are tossed out there as to whether or not NES would be better or worse than some of the other guys that the Canadians have already but when you take a look at it I mean Marty nature just at his best is a 70 maybe even an 80 Point guy if you really wanted to stretch it it how many Canadians guys are in that point production range like two maybe three if you wanted to stretch it if you cut and Pace Martin hes from Carolina over to Montreal I’d think it’s a pretty good upgrade and there will be extra guys trickling down the lineup that are more talented than the ones that would have been there otherwise not to mention the fact that NES was drafted in 2017 he’s literally in the same age range as Nick Suzuki so if you wanted to say that Suzuki is in that Prime window of oper opportunity for the future then NES kind of fits that too so my question to you m Canadians fans is what is the price here what is it that you’re comfortable paying in a Marty NES conversation with the Carolina Hurricanes and furthermore do you even think this is possible would the canes be interested in making some sort of a trade to help out the Montreal Canadians after all we have seen with the Sebastian AOS and the aspar kot kinis we haven’t even talked about the update on the aspar kkami buyout yet we make a video about that soon but when it comes to martinis if there is no realistic possibility where Kent Hughes calls up the canes and says hey I want to make a trade if the canes just keep on saying no sorry we’re not making a trade with you Montreal we’re not helping you out after all of our bad blood now I get it it wasn’t Kent Hughes it was Mark bersan back at the time but if you wanted to say that there’s still some bad blood there could the Canadians go their own toxic hostile route and offer sheet Mar NES themselves pull a asirot KMI out of their hat and be like hey here you go here’s a big contract offer one that the Carolina Hurricanes might not be able to match the hurricanes have been so stingy when it comes to resigning guys and getting contracts done it’s why Sebastian AO even agreed to an offer sheet in the first place all those years ago might I remind you when Sebastian AO signed with the Habs he most likely did not sign with the Habs thinking okay I’m going to go to the Habs he signed the offer sheet thinking okay this is the contract that I want Carolina has all the ability in the world to give this money to me but they just don’t want to do it because they’re stingy so I’ll sign this offer sheet with Montreal Carolina will match I’ll stay with the canes and the money that I want will be secured and in the bag because everybody said that when the Canadians signed Sebastian AO he was signed to an offer sheet that didn’t really seemed like that outrageous it wasn’t that high it was easily matchable meanwhile for Carolina they signed SP caught KMI to an offer sheet the next year that was way too high and the Habs are like okay great we’ll take the picks thank you very much so if Carolina does not want to make a trade with Montreal do you go with the offer sheet route instead say hey NES here’s $7.25 million a year for 7 years come over to our team we’ll give up some picks for you and compensation for Carolina but we’re going to get a player like you how’s that sound does that entire idea make sense to you do you like the potential of what Martin hes could be and if it’s not an offer sheet what do you think is the max trade price that you think will get it done in a realistic Carolina Hurricanes trade now that it’s gotten out from fredman that this guy might actually be on the move you have to start thinking okay well where exactly are the Domino’s going to fall here what’s the price what is he worth is he worth a first and a second or a first and a roster player that’s not great what’s the direction that the Carolina Hurricanes go down without a guy like Martin AIS in their lineup if they’re so unwilling to agree with what it is that he wants on a contract how are you going to replace that the hurricanes have been so good the past few years always continuously making the playoffs and winning games winning rounds that a big Cog in the machine like NES departing the team is a big deal last year as we had said when NES had 71 points he was the top Point guy on the Carolina hurricane so he has been one of the main guys on this offensively capable and potent team so for Montreal I mean it’s a good addition to get but for Carolina what do you do with that roster spot let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about this entire Montreal trade offer sheet for Marty hes kind of thing this is not the only video we’ve made about this entire topic we actually did talk about this a few weeks ago as well but with the entire Elliot fredman thing going out there saying yeah no there’s probably not going to be a contract sign and with the entire trade situation going down it makes things very interesting especially since Montreal fans are always looming around this conversation they’re like vultures stalking their prey and Marty natures’s time with the Carolina Hurricanes you could kind of visualize this as a dying corpse on the side of the mountain like oh yeah the amount of time that he’s got left with this team it’s dying out it’s bleeding out so we’ll see where exactly it goes next so let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about this Martin H’s conversation I hope you enjoyed this v99 and bye [Music] [Music]
