The most important play in Bears history?

I can't get over how much this one play did for the bears.

Edit: I meant "recent bears history". I know there were amazing plays many years ago, and certainly don't discount those.

  1. I had this thought the other day. The most important play in recent Bears history wasn’t even in a game the Bears played in!

  2. DJ

    Darnell

Tyrique (had to give up a 5th rounder to move up a few spots to take him)

    Caleb

Tory Taylor (the 4th rounder we got from Philly)

    2nd rounder next year.

that’s the results of the trade. The Keenan trade was our own 4th, had no connection to Bryce Young trade

but, goddamn. what an absolute haul.

  3. Thanks for the edit OP because I was thinking the video isn’t anything from 1985-86.

  4. I remember being at this game right after I had moved to Indy. The crowd was devastated while I was celebrating. It wasn’t that long ago, but it feels so nostalgic already

  5. I screamed like a little girl when he caught it. I was watching on RedZone and I immediately just started scream laughing.

  6. The touchdown call gets me every-damn-time, flat as hell “Oh my word”

  7. Recent history the most Important play is the double doink.

It removed every oz of good luck/fortune the elite 2018 team had and signaled the end. It ended a very real playoff run hope.

But that’s a bad important play.

We’ve had 2 years of bottom feeding teams that don’t carry any weight when playing. So for a good one the bears actually did, not the Texans play.

I’d say it was Nick Foles subbing in against ATL to make a massive comeback in the 2nd half. The Anthony Miller TD to win the game with a few minutes left might be a good one? We snuck in to the playoffs at 8-8, so every win counts and we didn’t have any game winning TDs/FGs as the clock expired. Only other one in the final 2 min to win was week 1 against DET; but the added comeback for ATL is more fun.

  8. Velus Jones’ muffed punt against the Commanders that same year. Saved us from the #2 pick as well

  9. Double-Doink.

I have no clue how much more leeway Nagy gets if he gets the team to the divisional round with Trubisky. Even in the year that brought us to the playoffs pretty convincingly, the setting up instead of running a play to move it closer started the conversations surrounding Nagy as well as Trubisky

  10. Who would’ve thought that play could be one of the most important plays in NFL history that could potentially shape the next decade.

  11. Honestly that Kevin White vs New England catch comes to mind but that’s more of a “what could’ve been cool af”

  12. The amazing thing is, this play didn’t even fucked the Texans up in anyway. They get on just fine (even great) without needing the #1 pick. Hell maybe it even prevented them from overthinking the pick between Stroud and Young getting the wrong one. Because now EVERY analyst says that Stroud was the best prospect but I can surely remember a hell lot of mock draft and evaluation having Young as QB1 off the board

  13. I watched this play in real time and remember being amazed and cheering for our good fortune. It turns out I should have straight up lost my sht.
