I hope this dude becomes an absolute terror.
WMD is such a great name for an elite edge rusher.
Not my video, but I’ll try to summarize:
He had a good win rate in limited snaps. He’s explosive off the line in both pass and run sets.
He’s very good at getting around the edge and faking speed to power, but is currently a bit of a one-trick pony, relying on speed rushing around the edge with the occasional spin move. Better tackles knew to expect his speed rush and neutralized him pretty easily with two-hand punches.
He needs to improve his tool set by putting on weight, using his long arms better and working on his speed-to-power and bull rush moves.
He has forced 12 fumbles on sacks in the last 5 years, which is pretty consistent in spite of sack-fumbles being a pretty volatile stat.
He had some good run stops, and succeeds in making plays when he can get around blocks either by outrunning or setting the edge and turning the corner. He hasn’t had many reps where he’s had to hold the point of attack, so it remains to be seen how much, if any, of a weakness that is.
I *think* that’s about it, but don’t take my word for it – if anything, the video is a nice cut up of quite a few of his limited reps, showing both successes and failures.
This probably could have been submitted tomorrow, but I *need* my fake internet points by posting someone else’s content. Or maybe I make poor life choices and stay up too late. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
he’s going ballistic this year. another JD gem incoming.
