[MLB Pipeline] Jack Leiter (@Rangers’ No. 6 prospect) is locked in for the @RRExpress, lowering his Triple-A ERA to 2.37. 5IP / 2H / 0R / 2BB / 6K

Only had 1 runner in scoring position the entire outing after back to back walks in the 2nd (both on 3-2 counts), but then had no walks the rest of the outing. 73 pitches with 49 strikes which is pretty solid imo. (Former Ranger Alex Speas actually got the loss tonight for Sugarland which I think I accidentally spoke into existence by talking about how I missed him in the game thread. My bad Alex).
I’m happy Jack didn’t let his lack of success with the big boys carry over down in AAA. I think this is definitely his level this season, and hope he can keep working on his fastball command consistency.
Fingers crossed we get healthy and can bring him back up in September and get him some more innings likely in a long/middle relief role to get him more acclimated to MLB hitters in a better environment to put towards next year. I ain’t giving up on this kid I don’t care what anyone else says
