  1. Yay! Does that mean no more toss sweeps out of shot gun on 3rd and 1????

  2. I’ll believe it when I see it. Zac is a great coach, seems like a tremendous locker room guy, but a mediocre play caller. If we want to be truly elite, he’s going to have to relinquish some control of play calling

  3. Intriguing if true. Pitcher said he favors a more balanced offense. This includes a good running game.

That would explain why the Bengals signed a new RB.

It also would explain why the Bengals drafted two TEs.

Should we expect more rushing attempts?
Should we expect more utilization of TEs for an outlet or dump off?

  4. A lot people complaining about bad play calling, which I’ll admit is somewhat true, but part of the issue that he’s had to deal with is Joe not being able to lineup under center due to various reasons. When Joe was comfortable and able to lineup under center more, the offense seemed to flow much better.

  5. TBF If you read the quote in the article, it says that he will take a step back… “In the spring”. To me, this reads that he’s going to resume his normal play calling duties when the season begins, but I guess time will tell

  6. Do you think he offered the same to Callahan before he left for Nashville?

  7. The Bengals’ playbook has changed more this offseason than it has in any offseason since Burrow’s rookie year. In 2024, the Bengals are interested in lining up more under center, using the play action passing game more, and marrying their run game, their screens and their drop back passing game more than they have over the last few years.

*Stop I can only get sooooo aroused*

  8. There’s a lot to love about coach Taylor but man his offenses can be *frustrating* at times to say the least. Hopefully, this is exactly what this team needs to take that next step.

  9. I am mostly excited that there will be less of a shared duties scheme. I attribute a lot of the “bad play calling” to having too many cooks in the kitchen between Callahan and Zac both running the offense. I was fine with just Zac and preferred just Dan. This is a best case scenario.

  10. Good. Hopefully this means no more infuriating bullshit on third/fourth and short

  13. Even when this offense was at its best, it has always been wildly inconsistent. Going multiple quarters at a time without any points. That has been a trait of ZT’s play calling going back to UC. I’m excited to see if we can be more balanced and consistent with him being more hands-off.

Took em long enough to realize there’s too many cooks

  15. This allows Zac to focus helping in other areas of focus at least for scheming *cough* OL *cough*.

Burrow standing on business and probably said he wants his favorite Pitcher to be the one talking to him on the headset. Great news!

  16. I really would like to see some more under center and hard play action stuff. If we can get a decent run game going, our receivers will feast

  17. Best part about this for me is ZT can just focus on the game and all the nuaance that goes into it rather than play calling.
