Ryan Lomberg, Eetu Luostarinen: Florida Panthers Before Game 2 vs. New York Rangers
yeah it was it was tough especially this time year it’s it’s tough to watch um boys made it easier on me obviously winning a bunch of those games um so yeah you know it’s unfortunately kind of been Theo of my career in and out so um you know when it happened I just dealt with it the way I usually do which is stay positive and and work as hard as I can and um you know that way whenever the time comes coach puts me back in I’m I’m ready to go at two you guys held them over two on the PE only gave up four shots on goal we know a lethal the Rangers penalty or power play can be just what was the strategy and what worked for you guys and then just in general your guys’ ability to Li to limit shots on goal that we’ve seen throughout the playoffs how proud are you of it and just how and what’s working for you guys throughout the playoffs to limit opponent’s opportunities uh yeah uh I think uh our mindset is 5 on five and 5 on4 to just stay tied uh play good defense uh block shots whatever it takes you have a question please raise your hand right uh well Ryan this one’s for you but as one of the character guys in the room you’ve kind of gotten to know everybody pretty well and Evan Rodriguez has kind of come in and from what I’ve seen become one of the guys that’s very vocal and a big leader I mean what have you seen from him as a guy who just came into a room that’s pretty well established and become a leader yeah I think uh you know obviously starts with Bill Bill brings in guys that are you know High character guys good teammates um and obviously good players so he fit in right right from day one and um you know he he was comfortable he’s a hard worker he’s a good teammate so um you know it’s it’s been a good situation back right Jamon uh for Ryan obviously look at the end of last game you guys already up three nothing but in that last minute couple Big Blocks couple big hits just how important is it for this team how much pride do you guys take and kind of playing your game the whole way through even maybe when you can take your foot off the gas yeah for sure I mean that’s that’s kind of um you know how we roll we we play as hard as we can until the buzzer goes and there’s no more time on the clock and then we take our recovery and and we go and do it again so um you know it’s it was great to see see all the boys selling out towards the end of the game um you know obviously we we want it so bad so um you know anytime there’s a a question whether you’re putting your line a body on the line excuse me or not you know the the guys don’t second guess it they they just do it for one another this question kind of for both Paul just mentioned some of the Strategic stuff about the way you guys have played on the road but I’m just wondering from the mental side of it you’ve made it look so easy during this postseason last postseason you had success what is it about playing on the road that it’s not supposed to be easy and yet you guys are having the success I think uh you know our game’s pretty pretty straightforward so I think when when we’re on the road um we don’t have to to worry too much about making a special play or or satisfying the fans or anything like that we just um you know put our heads down and and you know work and and grind it out and a lot of times it’s it’s not pretty it’s one nothing 21 um but you know that’s that’s kind of how we uh we get it done on the road no that’s pretty pretty good answer there thank you all right well I to this one is for you Sam Bennett moved down your line at the end of the Boston you guys you played with him yesterday what does he bring to your line and you guys didn’t really played too much together in five on five throughout the season what are the adjustments like having a new linemate this late in the season and just having to adjust and try to figure each other out on the fly yeah I mean I mean he’s obviously a really good player he plays straightforward physical game uh St play I I kind of like too so it’s been good so far and I hope we can still keep going take one more question from right is is that from the game six the the high stick that you took from yeah a little Friendly Fire by Rodriguez so did did he get you anything for it or like dinner or anything like that not yet we have to talk about it what what is it like I mean when you suffer an injury like that and you have to one I mean I’m sure you’re just an Agony back there as you’re getting repaired but as the game’s going on in a tie game like that and not being part of it yeah I mean it it took a little bit while to be at the locker room room to this up but like the the medical staff is doing uh the best they can and to get me back in the game

The Panthers are coming off a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins in the second round. Florida won that best-of-7 series in 6.
On Wednesday, Matthew Tkachuk gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead in the first period off assists from Carter Verhaeghe and Gus Forsling.
That lead stood until the third when Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Bennett each scored.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves in his first shutout since Game 3 against the Carolina Hurricanes exactly one year ago.
Florida is 3-0 in Game 1 of the ECF dating to 1996; the Panthers have also won their past seven ECF games dating to Game 6 against the Penguins in 1996.
