Giants vs. Pirates Game Highlights (5/23/24) | MLB Highlights

it’s a great day for baseball here from PNC Park in Pittsburgh today it’s the Pirates and the San Francisco Giants here in the final game of this three-game series Paul skin is pitching today and trying to get the Pirates to a series Victory against the Giants and Paul skes will make his third Major League start the 21-year-old right-hander the stuff that he has not only the velocity but the breaking ball the spinker the change everything I mean it’s not something we’ve seen any time ever Matos ready to go the pitch he swings grounds one first base side and that’s past the diving tles but Matos a lead off hit now Lamont Way junr bats here’s the pitch swinging a soft ground ball to Second should be two Cruz will take it to the bag throw the first Double Play here’s Tyro Estrada Begins the motion here’s the pitch swing and a miss he struck him out went back to the splitter first strike out for skines faces the minimum in the first and now the Pirates Come to bat in the bottom half chance using an opener today it’s the left-hander Eric Miller Eric Miller threw one pitch so far in this series so he’s pretty fresh Andrew McCutchen getting ready to lead things off for the Pirates today here’s a 1 and a swinging a Fly ball out toward the Nots in deep Matos back still back on this one and he leaps did he get it it’s gone home run he looked into that blue glove couldn’t find it McCutchen leads off the game with a home run again 13th career leadoff home run as a pirate for Andrew McCutchen and that puts the Pirates up one to nothing mat’s great effort here as he hits the wall though the glove comes out ball comes out of the glove and that’s a you got to get a new glove once it goes in it’s got to stay there you can’t have a floppy glove out there bouncer right side two hops over to Estrada ranging to his left throwing out Reynolds for the first out Conor joed the plate trying to work his way out of a 1 for 18 slump wow explosive there right in under the hand for strike three two outs and O’Neal Cruz will come to bat as Cruz swings and misses strike three a 98 mph fast ball and Miller finishes the inning with back-to-back strikeouts nearly the play of the Year defensively instead a home run from Andrew McCutchen gives the Pirates the early one- nothing lead after an inning and now Jorge Solair facing Paulk swinging a Miss struck him out expanding The Zone on the slider second strike out for SK but right there the slider that’s usually his go-to breaking pitch or off speed pitch here’s Mike gky as he flyball out to center field giwan Bay broke out now settles underneath it 1 two three second inning Paul SK is pitched two scoreless as we head to the bottom of the second Nick Gonzalez digging in to face Eric Miller second inning of work for him onew pitch Nick Gonzalez drills one to center field and this is Off the Wall Gonzalez chugging into second takes a peak he’s going to turn and head for third and Nick Gonzalez will slide in Greg Brown is not here but that is a trip trip triple it just looks like it’s a line drive right at center field you know I’m thinking it’s an out but Nick Gonzalez generates so much bad speed couple of feet from being a home run two outs Joey Bart getting set to face Mason black and hoping that the pirat won’t squander this leadoff triple by Nick Gonzalez onew a swing and a ground ball to short to his left backing up wisely he’ll glove it from the edge of the grass throws to First in time gets Joey Bart nice job Mason black and the inning is over Pirates a lead off triple and they do not score Giants down one nothing top of the fourth one out and SK with his first walk of the day now facing Matt Chapman who has been absolutely RedHot he doesn’t go Chapman a liner past the reach of Gonzalez into right center and Estrada is going to test the arm of Connor Joe Chapman gets back after Cruz cut the throw off that turned into good base running by Tyro cuz he had to go back he thought the liner might be caught Chapman’s got a hit and the Giants have something cooking see if Solair can get this game tied at minimum swings here bounces one over to third Fielding it triolo he’ll go to Second the out there and that’s it Gonzalez unable to make a throw to first and so gives Solair another RBI but a Strada comes home and it’s a tie game one to one two walks and a hit batter have loaded the bases for the Pirates two outs for Bart one-1 game the pitch swing flyball deep Center MOS back to the wall Joey bartks in a gr slam off the batter side in Center B with the slamber and the Bucks up 5 to one absolute no doubter off the batter’s eye that big green wall that was a bomb that had to feel real good good for the ex giant catcher backto back games with grand slams Joey Bart is Fourth of the year the hitting streak at six for him and the lead 5-1 for the bucks Joey Bart extends the Pirates lead 5 to one gives paulski some run support and there’s a strike out of Ramos to begin the fifth inning and again the split or the spinker as we like to call it yeah he’s nowhere close to that it’ll bring up Kurt cassali Kurt line drive into center field base hit that’s the fifth Giants hit against Paul schemes Matos dribbles one weekly trioo charging gets around it fires across the diamond scooped up by Rowdy toes at first base and that will retire Matos and the Giants here in the top of the fifth with the Pirates leading 5 to one so two outs with a man in second here is Jorge Solair here’s the pitch and a swung on ground right to short Cruz has it from The Outfield grass he’ll throw out a first to get the final out pa sches one run through six Innings and very good today 5 to1 Pirates will go to the bottom half the Pirates leading 5 to one and the afternoon is over for Paul SK you see one more hitter one more inning I’m still ready to go Paul SK has worked through six allowed six hits just one run not the massive strikeout totals we saw last time and the Lefty Jose Hernandez back from a stint in Indianapolis Ramos down the left field line toward the foul pole it is gone Elliot Ramos takes Hernandez deep well home run gave the Giants a big spark last night maybe it can do the same today that was a bullet it’s 5 to2 that really was that was well struck he knew at the second he hit it I didn’t worry about just keeping it fair but that was way fair and Way Gone it’s all it takes you got the big guy out of the game and now Brian Reynolds coming up over 24 years and Reynolds charges this one and this one is long gone way out of the ballpark as Reynolds hits his seven home run of the year to extend the lead to 6-2 that’s what you’ve been asking for Rob you weren’t comfortable with the five runs you wanted them to add on and Brian Reynolds may be heating up the Grand Slam last night the single in the fifth and this a no doubter and now here’s the redot Matt Chapman coming up to the plate two on nobody out Chapman to center field Hit It Well Bay Going Back Bay at the wall it is gone on Chapman a three-run homer it just wouldn’t come down his third of the series and we got ourselves a onrun game man hit yourself into a rally we just kind of mentioned itday don’t worry about them pitching you into one B Bing huh wow and now Solair is going to bat with still nobody out in the inning soir into right center field that’s a bullet it’s going to go to the wall hor solir into second with nobody out the Giants have the tying run in scoring position with no outs so Wilmer Flores will be the hitter with the tying run at second base two2 on the ground base hit solir is going to come around and he’s going to score to tie the game just professional hitting right there huh breaks as bad as what it sounded like two two fast ball down and Away not trying to do anything but hit it where it’s pitched cuz that’s a go-ahead run still nobody out the Giants have scored four runs here on five straight hits well no lead is safe in this series or Aldis Chapman on the mound now a 66 game as the Pirates once up comfortably in this one by a score of 5 to one find themselves now in a 66 game a man of board one out as Chapman takes the hill red wisley at the plate 6 to6 here in the eighth inning Marco Luciano at third base does he have the gut to try to spike another slider 02 wisely up the middle base hit Giants Take the Lead Luciano scores and Brett wisley is having the best game of his big league career I tell you what how about controlling your heart rate at at such a young age doing what he did right there give it up for the boys never quitting that Dugout I mean 02 you’re thinking like you said Spike the slider no he just tries to out gas him and it’s just center cut Giants take the lead and the Pirates have the tying run back on here with two outs and now Connor Joe is coming up that’s a popup Wade sees it he’s got it for out number three and the Giants two straight remarkable comeback wins they win the game and they win the series in Pittsburgh

  1. Pirates remind me of the Angels when they had Ohtani. Ohtani would usually leave a game with the lead but the Angels had a knack in trying to give him that no-decision. This will probably happen a lot to Skenes this year. I'm pulling for Skenes. Looks like he's got a bright future.

  2. Wade, Chapman, Soler, Flores, Ramos, Bailey, Wisely, Taylor, Rodriguez, and Tyler were the heroes. Another comeback win for the Fighting Giants. Anyone hotter than Chapman laely?

  3. Pirates need to just pitch Skenes until his arm falls off. Heโ€™s not going to finish his career with us, so why not?

Itโ€™s so hard to be a pirate fan. A disgraceZ

  4. As a Mariner's fan, I've felt for King Felix to throw so great for so many years only to never make it to the postseason, I sure hope that doesn't happen to Skenes, he looks like he's going to be dominant for a long time granted that he stays healthy
