You should look at the already approved list of names… this isn’t one of them though. Nice idea, but we’ve already seen like 500 similar ones.Â
This looks like the logo for a fertility clinic.
I like it for a lot of reasons, and as a concept is pretty strong. The wordmarks needs professional touch up from a designer, but it’s a good start.
As far as being realistic, it isn’t, as Smith has said it will be Utah, not Salt Lake. And they already have the working list of names, this isn’t on it.
HOWEVER…I don’t think the Tucson Roadrunners are lasting long as our AHL affiliate. It’s becoming more common to put your AHL team where your NHL team is. It won’t be long before Smith buys the Roadrunners from Mureulo and moves them to Salt Lake, and when that happens, Salt Lake Velocity could be a great concept to run with.
In a league with Rocket, Reign, and Crunch, I can see Velocity working perfectly well. One thing to consider though, and maybe this is too far out there, but I feel like the gold/silver/bronze striping is enough of a tribute to the Olympics and we wouldn’t want to lean too heavily into that. But Utah Raptors was a popular choice for the NHL team name, and Velocity is pretty close to Velociraptor. Perhaps a raptor for the mascot? Just an idea.
