Washington Commanders Switching Jamin Davis To Edge Rusher? Micah Parsons Type Roll?
yo what is up guys this Pedro here and in today’s video I’ll be going over the reports that Jamon Davis is getting some work with the edge rushers we talk about what that could look like in Washington and could we see a Micah Parson type role for Jam Davis here in DC if you guys are new make sure to subscribe hit that like button and that notification Bell as well it really does help out the algorithm and all three of those things are free also check out sleeper Link in the description use my code Pedro for first time deposit match and also comment down below how many sacks you think Jamon Davis will have this year all right so let’s get right into the video so yesterday was listening to the John K podcast you know of him recapping OTAs and he talked about Jamon Davis and how he has been getting some work in with the defensive ends uh you know with the edge rushers and you know some individual drills and then even in the 7v7 sometimes is doing that as well and that wasn’t something he was doing under roner Vera and Jack Del Rio and we always saw the potential I think the fans always saw the potential with Jamon Davis at Edge rusher or at least you know rushing the quarterback more than he was because when he did he did have some success getting to the quarterback and I think a lot of fans saw that and were wondering why we didn’t get more of that especially last year when after we traded montz sweat and Chase young we really don’t have anyone there might as well try them out there and they didn’t but I guess they also didn’t really have anyone else at linebacker that they really could play but yeah listen to this in the podcast and I decided to tweet it out got some attention people are talking about it now uh because of what K said and I really do think this is something that the Washington Commander should explore because they did bring in Bobby Wagner they brought in Frankie louu so they got good linebackers and Jamon Davis is good when they have three linebacker sets the those three will be playing but when they have two linebacker sets it’s probably going to be Bobby Wagner and Frankie louu so you probably want to still have Jamon Davis on the field and the only other way to do that if you’re still going to stay in those two linebacker sets is maybe put him at Edge rusher maybe have him rush the quarterback uh you there’s different ways of doing that but I do think that is something that they should do you look at his build 6’4 234 lbs maybe you like what you cuz K talked about this in the podcast they might just be trying them out this is the time to see what guys can do you know they’re putting Forbes at punt R returner stuff like that but let’s say they like what they see from Jamon Davis at addresser maybe they tell them you know what Jamon let’s put on some weight let’s put on some weight this off seon before training camp put on five pounds put five pounds of muscle on before a training camp and that’s not a lot but like it’s something and you’re getting a little bit bigger and that’s you know that would be good getting to let’s say 240 instead of 234 and I don’t know what he is at right now just because this is probably his weight going into his rookie year and they really don’t change it but 234 it’s not small especially for linebacker 6’4 234 lbs he has a lot of the traits uh you know he has length and you know he’s strong he’s quick he’s explosive and he has gotten sacks in the past the last two years he’s gotten three sacks in both seasons and at times you’re like man this guy can get to the quarterback and I think at least one sack last year got called back because of a penalty from you know either him you know hitting the quarterback in the head or someone else doing something stupid that really shouldn’t have negated the sack like it it should have been his sack so I think he could have got more and they barely used him as a rusher and you know he never had his you know hand in the dirt actually in his stance running to the quarterback it was mostly standing up so I’m wondering if they’ll actually have him play Edge rusher this year and I’m not saying they need to do it every snap of the game no they signed some guys they got dorren Armstrong and got Dante Fowler Clen phell like you brought in guys you brought in guys and you still have uh you know KJ Henry Andre Jones I believe seventh round pick last year you have a lot of young guys and guys that you brought in but if J like Jamon Davis out of all those guys besides maybe dorren Armstrong like he has upside he’s got the athletic tools you need you might as well try him out there and if he’s looking good then maybe you can have him there in an expanded role maybe a Micah Parson type role I’m not saying at all that Jamon Davis is Micah Parsons because he is not Micah Parsons was an absolute Beast right away and he was you know more highly touted coming out of college like this is a guy that you know some people thought would go top 10 I really wanted him and you know I I thought he was more of a linebacker than Edge rusher it turns out I was wrong uh they had him as a linebacker originally and they switched him to Edge rusher and it worked out really well 13 sacks 13 half 14 he’s 6’3 245 lbs so are bigger than Jamon and he’s a sorry and a little bit shorter so jnd would definitely have to put on some weight if you wanted to switch to that role fulltime but you know he can definitely play there a little bit right now get some work there like ideally you’re going to have them in at linebacker on those three linebacker sets but when you do have two linebacker sets and maybe you want to put an extra D lineman there you can put Jamon Davis on the edge and give Dante Fowler or KJ Henry or Clen frell a break and let Jamon get in there and get some reps get some work and again if he does really well then maybe put him there at a permanent role and you found something in Jamon Davis that maybe you wouldn’t have before and it seems like Dan Quinn knows how to get the best out of these players and he really knows what position to put some of these tweeners and I’m not saying Jamon Davis is a tweener but he does have the tools and some of the traits to play to to rush the quarterback he does just could use a little bit more size but again see Michael Parsons he’s 63 and he’s rushing the quarterback he is 245 so if Jam can put on some weight he does have a lot of the traits like you look at him Jamon Davis let’s just look at his draft profile like he was an athletic freak at the combine I mean a 40 plus inch vertical leap uh let’s see yeah second in all uh linebacker scores uh let’s see uh we’ll look at his are they going to show his combine I guess not but I know it’s like a 44 maybe a 44440 yard dash and they also had a you know uh 40 plus inch vertical so has had a lot of good stats I wish they would show his uh I wish they would show his uh combine stuff I swear they usually do but Michael Parson also was really good at the combine michah Parson’s combine numbers but the numbers are comparable they are comparable and let’s see please just show this so 40 yard dash time 466 vertical jump 31 so no they’re not comparable uh jamond Davis blew him out of the water in terms of the combine numbers but uh obviously I think Michael Parsons is more skilled might have has a little bit of a better motor and yeah has a good drive and again just he’s a dock and Jamon might not be there he’s not going to be nearly there but if we could get a few more backs out of Jamon and a few big plays out of him this season that we wouldn’t have gotten if he didn’t play Edge rusher then I think that is a you know risk willing to take for the Washington commanders to play him a little bit at Edge and he can still play linebacker like I think you can have it so Micah is mostly Ed rusher and tiny bit linebacker you can probably do the opposite with Jamon where you play at Edge rusher maybe a little bit more than Micah plays at linebacker and then the rest play them at linebacker when you’re having those three linebacker sets and they’re still going to do that with you know Bobby Wagner and Frankie louu and I really like that linebacking court and it’s not only Jamon that can Rush the quarterback Frankie louu I mean I hope they have him rushing the quarterback as well because uh I mean he look at that 5 and a half sacks s and a half sack or seven sacks 12 and 1 half sacks over the last two years so he has already been able to do it at a high level and you know he is 236 not sure the height there but that’s something that you could also see you know the commander is doing is rushing him uh to the quarterback as well maybe he uh you know has been playing linebacker the whole game and you want to put Jamon Davis in at linebacker and because he’s been rushing the quarterback you switch him up a little bit it’s something to do and it makes offens is guessing a little bit when you could have anytime one of these guys rushing cuz a lot of times it’s like you have a specific guy on the in that linebacking core that rushes the quarterback like with the you know Tampa Bay Buccaneers usually Devon white he does that but here you have Frankie louu any given snap he can Rush the quarterback and same thing with Jamon Davis so I’m excited to see that I’m hoping and this is my bull prediction I posted yesterday he’s going to get five plus sacks I really hope he does and you know get him a little bit more money next off season whether that’s here or somewhere else we will see it’s a trial run for him see what the regime thinks of him and if he does well he’ll get paid somewhere um maybe it’ll be here maybe it won’t but that’s it for today’s video I hope you guys did enjoy if you did do all that good stuff like button subscribe and check out the video from yesterday going over some Jamon Davis stuff and what is 2 sacks max
He rushes better up the middle
I’d be so happy for jamin if it worked out on the edge, he’s got the build and the athletic traits, unlikely but he could even win himself an edge rushers contract
Jamin is an athlete…Micah is a Dawg. I wish we could bring that dawg out of Jamin.
Finally a staff that will work with JD and use his strengths.
That would be AMAZING OMG his career would be saved
7-10 sacks total

Hey Pedro, would love to hear your take on the offense. They seem to be getting a pass. Bottom 5 O-Line, worst WR and TE rooms in the league, RB room bottom 5 as well. Gave up Brissett for Mariota? No. Too much pressure on the rookies. I worry for JD, he is going to get hit – a lot. They passed on Frazier (certain future pro bowl o-lineman) at 36 for a guy with two broken feet? I smell trouble, do you?
Davis is 235, sorry, he would be the smallest Edge in the history of the league. Not exactly a guy who plays hard either. Or smart.
I think he can get 5 sacks this year
Jamin is every bit as capable of being the Commanders version of Micah Parsons. Parsons is BAD MAN…but his first (3) seasons he operated within DQ’s elite scheme as opposed to Jamin who was not used properly under Rivera and JDR.

well, he can't play linebacker (thank you, ron rivera!); so you may as well play him at edge because chase young turned out to be a bust (thank you, ron rivera!). and if he fails at edge, try him at corner back, because e forbes also turned out to be a bust (thank you, ron rivera!).
This is the biggest reach of the offseason but hey you can't blame the new staff for attempting to 1. Coach the player 2. see what his skill set actually is 3. creating a role
because he damm sure isn't playing in front of Luvu and Wagner
You guys are jumping on anythiny . They did not say he was gonna be an edge. Their trying him there
I like that.
No thinking….just rush the QB….by any means necessary….one job….I think he get get 5+. sacks…depending on how many snaps he gets
Thats how i use him in madden. About time people saw the vision
I keep saying Davis is going to have a monster year we got good LBs now.
Micah ran a 4.39 forty time.
Yes this is the move 1000 percent man bout time
Micah Parsons is now Underutilized by only playing the edge rusher role. I like my linebackers getting sacks on blitzes, forcing fumbles, stopping and stuffing the rush, covering backs and tight-ends in coverage. Micah does all those things well, also probably the best coverage linebacker but now he is strictly edge rushing. These teams run all over the cowboys. And run right at Parsons too. And also Davis looks a little light to be stopping the run against monster NFL lineman. Respect to all these guys and i wish their teams to utilize them and not put unnecessary mileage on their young bodies.
Ive been saying it since the coaching staff and roster came together; I think quinn and whitt will be running a hybrid system that is more akin to a 34 than a 43. Probably Davis and definitely luvuu will play the olb/pass rusher role. Except I think rather than coming off the edge they are in stand up, moving, and mug roles
Wouldn't it be funny if all Ron's picks turned out to be studs…. only they are studs in totally different positions than he played them at.
Davis @ edge
Forbes @ returner
Mathis @ LG(or better yet LT)
Stromberg @ Fullback
3 sacks. But I could appreciate more!
