Bengals Rookie Is Off To An OUTSTANDING Start

[Music] [Applause] all right let’s talk about the Cincinnati Bengals here for a little bit look it’s that time of your OTAs are kicking off we’re seeing the entire team getting some kind of team activities together doing some workouts things like that not anything serious of course but football feels like it’s getting closer and closer and this time of year we’re really starting to see what rookies are doing to make a name for themselves or what they’re doing to put themselves in positions to be successful and there’s one Bengals rookie that I think is off to a really great start and that is their first round selection let’s get into the report and we’ll talk about it more in detail on the other side this is courtesy of pro football network when it comes to learning and retaining everything he needs to know Cincinnati Bengals first round pick airus Mims is doubling down not only has the offensive tackle from the University of Georgia been attached to veteran Orlando Brown Jr since arriving in Cincinnati he’s writing down everything he can in duplicate I take pride in knowing the Playbook he added being a young guy the fastest way to get on the field is knowing the plays kind of obvious but important and the quickest way to get off it is not knowing it’s my job I got to hone in on stuff like that all right we get caught up in the physical side of the game and rightly so but it’s critically important for young players rookies to get their minle side off to a strong start that’s why I think this is a great sign for this Bengals rookie and for the Bengals offense altogether mil I’m curious what your thoughts are on this but first Cincinnati fans in the comments section below taking Mims out of the equation what other Bengals rookie are you really excited about a guy who you think is going to have a really big impact for Cincinnati this year and potentially in the future as well give us the non- Mims Bengals rookie that you think is going to be a star big impact player and put him in the comment section below but my give me your thoughts on this update involving Mims and just everything it means for the Cincinnati Bengals yeah Nate first of all I we know it’s a first round pick so it’s like you said size is something that you know comes and goes and that’s something you really can’t help but we all knew this guy being a first round pick he’s got the size he’s 67 340 that was never the question for this guy really there weren’t a whole lot of questions he seemed like a pretty good pickup for the Bengals but it’s like you said it’s the basics here it’s what can you do to make sure you don’t mess up the little stuff and it seems like Mims has come in with the mentality hey I’ve got the physical tools down probably can hone my game in a little bit but for the most part the path for me getting on the field is making sure I can do the little things right know the Playbook don’t screw up in practice and those are the kind of things that’s going to FasTrack him to be a starter on this offensive line and Mims that’s pretty easy to do when you’re doing it double every single day it says he has a notebook he keeps in the offensive line room writes down all of his notes then after the meetings transcribes those to another notebook that he puts in his backpack takes home with him as well so you know it’s something that people learn different ways everyone learn some people can hear something once remember it forever some people more visual learning Mims it seems like he’s a guy that repetition works for him and I’m if he’s doing this with his notes we can only imagine what he’s doing with his pass sets what he’s doing with stuff off the field you know he’s probably doing that kind of stuff at breakfast this seems like a guy who’s super dialed in and ready to go the extra on just the little stuff to help him get on the field and I’m really excited if I’m a Bengals fan because this guy seems like he could be the absolute real deal for the Cincinnati bank oh for sure and I think it’s important to understand is that all of these conversations in terms of installing the plays getting the basics down in the fundamentals that’s what’s going in now right this is the framework the foundation the actual detailed stuff will come during training camp and then of course the game plan stuff will happen week by week by week but now it’s the fundamentals now it’s the foundation and this is why it’s really important this time of year we hear people talk about it all the time look it’s OTAs does it even really matter what rookies are doing it really really does you need to set that really solid foundation and get off to a really good start because if you don’t get off to that good start your rookie year in a lot of cases gets completely wasted and we’ve got a guy here in Mims let’s be honest here I know he’s been working with Orlando Brown Jr but the other uh projected starting tackle Trent Brown the new tackle they added in he he’s had some injury concerns he’s good when healthy but the reality is Trent Brown’s had a battle through some injuries over the past couple years Trent Brown is north of 30 as well there’s a very high probability that Mims will be playing and starting in a number of key games down the stretch potentially just if Brown gets hurt or if he beats him out right for the opposite tackle position so again you if that situation comes up you want to make sure your tackle the guy protecting Joe burrow for God’s sakes who’s had two season ending injuries already in his career up to this point has a really good foundation and understands the basic concepts and it starts now it’s it’s so different than college football right when people are just sitting there like well you have your entire red shirt freshman year to get the fundamentals you have Spring ball you have all these different times the NFL is so constrained it happens so fast so you get a couple OTA practices in one phase a couple in the next phase and then you’re right into training camp where you have a limited number of practices three preseason games and then it’s put up a shutup time right you got 17 games to decide how you’re season is going to go right there’s such a limited time for a young player to get up to speed that’s why it is critically important for every single young player to be putting in that extra work especially on the mental side and that’s why this is a great sign for the Bengals going forward and look I’m really impressed with Mims I think the real concern with Mims coming out of Georgia was the fact I think he only had eight career starts that’s not a lot he had every fysical tool you would want people were concerned about his experience people were concerned about as football smarts this story right here I think can put all of that to bed I think he’s off to an impressive start so far as he lays that foundation and gets ready to have a big impact this year for Cincinnati yeah ni and you talk about starting experience but you got to go back this guy’s first two starts were in the college football playoff in 2022 so talk about getting the brightest lights the earliest like we said this guy’s got all the physical tools but just as far as being able to be on the field in the biggest moment and not absolutely blow it it’s got to be kind of nerve-wracking for your first start to be in one of the biggest games of your your entire career and Mims did just that and they go on that year to win the national championship as well so you know good for him I think that’s really great and on top of that we go back to you know can he take all this in can he get it small excerpt doesn’t mean a whole lot but he did get a 3.6 GPA at Georgia so it seems like on the smarter size as as well so I think Ms like you said this guy seems the real deal and I’m really excited to see what he’s going to do over the course of these next weeks and f

The Cincinnati Bengals have to be really excited about what they are hearing from one of their rookie. This new Bengals rookie has the right mental makeup to be an impact player. This Bengals rookie has already mitigated one of the biggest concerns for him. This is especially great news for the Cincinnati Bengals since it’s at a position of need.
