going into the 2024 MLB season who did you think the best team in MLB was did you say the Dodgers due to acquiring shotani how about the new look Orioles after winning a 100 games and getting a former Sai Young winner maybe the Atlanta Braves with the unanimous MVP and being the best team in baseball last season if you said any of these teams you’d be wrong throughout the first two months of the Season since the clear best team in baseball has been the Philadelphia Phillies going into opening day the fight and Phils were ranked the fourth best team behind the three that I mentioned above however they have been surprising everyone with just how good they really are throughout the team’s First 48 games the Phillies have gone 34 and 14 scoring the second most runs in baseball with the fourth best erra they’ve basically built a monster that is considered a baseball team that might just be unstoppable but what makes the Phillies so much better than everyone else before we get started let me know in the comment section who you think the best team in baseball is if it’s not the Phillies but before you attack me let me tell you why I think the Phillies might just be unstoppable every MLB team starts with what else but the starters see how that works the Phillies have a three-headed monster that is probably the best in baseball with arinola Zack Wheeler and Ranger Suarez at the top these three my God these three human beings are so unbelievably good at throwing a little 5 oz spear or more Innings than anyone else ever all they do is eat Innings every game it’s unheard of in today’s game what they do a quality start is a great stat to show how much a pitcher is not only pitching deep into a ball game but with also a serviceable amount of run prevention to achieve a quality start you have to throw a minimum of six Innings and allow a maximum of three runs if you hit both of these benchmarks you have a quality start by the way all of these stats that I’m about to mention are from May 20th when I recorded the script and wrote it please forgive me if anything happens since then I’m not in the future I don’t know there are only four pitchers in baseball with seven quality starts and the Phillies have two of those three Zack Wheeler and Ranger Suarez Nola is one of the other five with six quality starts having three of the nine players with six plus quality starts is just truly absurd this level of production from a staff makes them a top three rotation with just that how about a little more dominance from these three pitchers only six pitchers have thrown over 59 Innings three of those pitchers are Suarez Nola and Wheeler half of the pitchers with the most innings in baseball are three Phillies I mean does that even make sense there are 30 teams and three of the top six are on the same one of those 30 ridiculous absolutely absurd oh yeah and Ranger only has nine starts so far instead of 10 like everyone else on the list so that makes it even sillier and if you want your favorite team’s rotation to become the best in baseball then subscribe to my channel in 3 seconds and that’s exactly what’ll happen so if you’re a white socks fan or maybe an Athletics fan you better get on that quickly because that’s the only way your rotation will ever be serviceable those three pitchers are all also top 15 in ER with sware as being second with a minuscule 1.37 ER and at 21 they have a 4 pitcher in the ER leaderboard top 25 and that’s Christopher Sanchez who I haven’t even had time to mention yet oh yeah and they’d have another one in the top 10 if Spencer Turnbull wasn’t demoted to the bullpen for reasons that only Jesus Christ himself could explain so if Turnbull qualified they would have three pitchers in the top 10 of RA and five in the top 25 where there are 30 teams in baseball that’s just unheard of it’s ridiculous okay okay I’m done talking about the rotation except for this final thing I want to mention this level of volume and consistency does one other thing incredibly well it helps save your Bullpen for later in the season it’s simple if your starter throws seven Innings then the bullpen only has to throw two or even just one if you’re playing at home with the lead this means that the Phillies are going to have a fresh Bullpen come later in the season and the postseason and they’ll just be even stronger which is scary for the rest of baseball and and I didn’t even mention how strong that Bullpen is they have one of the strongest relievers in baseball going back to last season in Jeff Hoffman and three Elite Lefty pitchers in Gregory SoDo Jose Alvarado and Matt strm both strm and Hoffman have sub 1.5 eras in over 20 Innings oron kering also has an erra sitting in the ones and they still have Sir Anthony Dominguez who has been great throughout his career the scariest part about this Bullpen is that Alvarado Dominguez and stto have all struggled so far for most of the Season even though they’ve all been very good for multiple years God if those three bounce back two who the hell are you going to score against on this pitching staff they’re just absolutely insane with how much depth this team has while also having a bunch of incredible top-end options having both depth and top end pieces like the staff does is extremely rare there’s just so much talent all over this pitching staff oh yeah and did I forget to mention that the offense is probably better than the pitching staff you know the boys that make the fight and fails an elite offense with Bryce Harper Trey Turner and Kyle schwarber these three hitters are all problems as I’m sure everyone watching already knows Bryce Harper is a two-time MVP winner who is just pretty much getting better and better when he’s healthy every season he has 10 homers already 35 RBIs and a 380 on base percentage because he walks a ton not to mention how clutch Harper is and how he always tends to play better with the game on the line he just locks in when he needs to late in a game or in a huge spot and if someone else locks in it’s Mr I hate this place himself Alec bom bom has been an absolute machine with Runners and scoring position he’s batting over 330 with Runners and scoring position this season and he’s slugging almost 700 in those same situations over his past 180 games bom is hitting 350 with runners in scoring position it’s literally like if there’s a base runner in scoring position for Alec B that run scores like 95% of the time right now he’s been absolutely Unstoppable in the most important at bats of the Season he’s also batting 330 on the season with an even better Ops than Bryce so that’s something Trey Turner is also having an insanely nice bounceback season with an even better batting average than bom even if he has missed 10 games so far with an injury along with that he’s also on Pace to steal 50 bases in his age 31 season which would be His Highest stolen base season of his career after a disappointing first season in Philly it looks like he’s finding his stride there Kyle schwarber also has nine homers and is leading the national league in walks which is nice for somebody that bats lead off in every single game Bryson stot had a slow start to the season but over his last 15 games has gotten on base in over 50% of his at bats and even brand andon Marsh has been worth one and a half wins for this team I didn’t even mention the former best catcher in baseball JT Ruto who’s still an incredible option behind the dish or former Allstar Nick castios who hasn’t been able to get it going this season so if he can get going this team will officially be unstoppable now the one thing that is stoppable is the defense for the Phillies well at least it was in 2023 even though it was better than expected however in 2024 the defense is probably a top 10 defense the Phillies have some electric Defenders at some of the most important defensive positions in baseball JT Ruto has been an elite catcher for the better part of a decade now Bryce Harper has been one of the best defenders at first base this season because that dude is a freak athlete and can do everything on a baseball field their third baseman Alec B has also become a very solid Defender over at the hot corner and their second baseman Bryson stot is a perennial Gold Glove candidate they ALS o have one of the best defenders in baseball over in center field in Yan Roos and Brandon Marsh in left field is also a solid option Trey Turner Nick castios and Kyle schwarber are all defensive liabilities however schwarber has dhed all year and right now Turner is out for a little while and his replacement is solid castios is horrible out there though Dude Looks Like A 6 fo8 big man in the NBA trying to run down a Fly ball I’m honestly shocked he hasn’t gotten hurt running after a flyball yet in his career this team used to struggle in the field but man they can ball out and make some plays now having former Allstar Nick castios being one of the late hitters in your lineup as your team’s biggest issue is an insanely good problem to have the one thing that can be questioned about this team however is the fact that they have had a literal cake schedule so far throughout their season even though they are 20 and4 over their last 24 games they have basically played zero competition throughout the entire season playing just three of their 48 games against teams that are over 500 at this point in the season just one Series against winning teams that means they have had very very few good tests and they did go just one and two in those three games against the good teams so that’s a little concerning the only other team that has played less than 10 games against winning teams is the second best team in baseball the Los Angeles Dodgers and even the Chicago White Socks they’ve played 35 games against winning teams the MLB schedule makers must have hated that damn team going into the season my God they got punished for what just being bad po white socks I feel bad for them the Phillies are also 20 and 8 at home and 15 and6 on the road so they’re going to beat you home or away look good teams beat up on the teams that they should beat and that’s exactly what the Phillies have done throughout the season with the second best run differential in baseball at plus 83 runs which just means they have scored 83 more runs than they’ve given up even with the easiest schedule in baseball by far so far I think this team has what it takes to match up against the better teams in baseball and you got to give tons of credit to Dave demski for really spending on Veterans and giving his team so much talent all throughout they’ve been on the cusp of winning Bryce Harper’s first World Series for each of the last two seasons so let me know in the comments if you think this is the year that the Phillies finally break their drought and win Bryce Harper his
