OC using Inkscape and Adobe Substance 3D. Surprised no one has suggested this name yet! I believe this would represent Utah really well. The Coyote is a desert animal, as it lives primarily in the desert (which is one of Utah’s main biomes)
The coyote is howling at the moon, which can be spotted in Utah roughly half the year. The howling also represents the fans when theyre howling (cheering) in the sports arenas, giving encouragement to the players. The ear is shaped like a mountain, . The mascot is a coyote (the animal the logo is based on) And the red represents Big Red, one of Utah’s most iconic neighbours that I had, as well as Utah’s iconic red rocks. The white represents the salt which Salt Lake is allegedly named for, though I couldnt find a source on this, and the black represents the music notes found in Utah’s iconic jazz music scene.

  3. Utah can’t use coyotes for a reason. Alex meruelo retained the rights to that name when he sold the team. He’s guaranteed a future expansion franchise if he gets an arena built in Arizona within the next 5 years. I’m not sure if you’re aware of that, just a heads up.
