Birdland Murals: Jessie and Katey | Baltimore Orioles

[Music] my name is Jesse and my name is Katie and we are the creators of [Music] Oppo okay I’m going to say this point 23 years I’m going to say a lifetime when we met we were both and we were at Micah we were kind of obsessed with Baltimore you know and we’re exploring everything blue our mind and meeting people and like exploring new places of the city it was just what we were all about so we basically made all of our artwork about city of [Music] Baltimore I think we were both really inspired by the architecture and the surface that we were working on when we were designing for it so you know there’s two identical walls so we were like oh we obviously have to do something symmetrical here the middle passageway to like try and connect it and kind of make it feel like an epic entrance yeah cuz I guess it literally is an entrance to the city as people get off the highway I think we just want to make sure everybody feels like a big impact and that they are really excited by it and inspired I think both just really aware of like the environment that all of us as humans are in you know and for us it’s exciting to like create moments of color and excitement where you can be like completely immersed in like another world [Music] it seems like really special to get to create something for people that impacts the environment that’s not trying to sell them anything and like it’s just a reflection of like the creative human Spirit it is a beautiful reflection of the spirit of our community for everyone that passes it by but really it’s another way to showcases what Baltimore puts out towards the world PNC is truly proud to help gift their incredibly beautiful mural here to the city of Baltimore I think it’s also really cool for us to get to work at home we’re like often traveling and we haven’t worked in Baltimore in 5 years it’s really special because of that I think that’s why we stuck around but it’s definitely made us who we are as artists Baltimore is a wacky City and I think it kind of just represents like a wacky side of it and it’s celebratory and it’s colorful and it’s loud and it’s inviting and I think it’s a great City and I think it’s one of those cities that you kind of have to like dig a little to find out about how amazing it is and I think you know that’s kind of what our piece wer [Music]

We worked with PNC Bank and Jessie and Katey on our new Birdland Murals installation at the Baltimore Convention Center.
