are you expecting any changes from the minor leagues coming up here in Milwaukee given some of the uh unpredictable offense it doesn’t seem that way to me um it doesn’t seem that way um yeah I but I think they’re kind of riding some of this but yeah you think PCA will be up anytime soon no no I think they want him to get everyday playing time and I think until they feel they have the Avenue for that I don’t think they’re going to do that yeah if you had a pick right now we’ll get into Porter hod but between giving that bass to Michael Bush who has struggled mightily over the past month although showing signs here or there breaking out of it versus giving PCA a bats that was a contrast which player would you want to get the most at bats right now you still go with PCA or with uh Bush over PCA I saw you tweet it the other day of kind of like divvying up some of the playing time and how you would kind of manage talkman Bush PCA Etc and I I I asked chck GPT to do it for me I swear to God and that’s what it gave me it said give me three two two uh roster spots and three players and make it work that’s what it gave me just saying yeah I I don’t know I do agree with you though like he was showing he was showing a lot of positive adjustment at the MLB level then of course he goes down he hits that major home run dude that was nice uh yeah and you know he’s got that swag he’s got that energy and you always talk about these things but sometimes you’re looking for those kind of uh you know bursts and those guys that can hit those big- time outcomes and really move the needle a little bit and it feels like they need that man and you know like Michael Bush was that person early in the season yeah but these guys are young they’re they’re you know bush is playing at this level and getting this of extended run like this for the first time in his career it’s not an easy thing to do it’s not an easy thing to break into and when you’re kind of managing that and trying to win and trying to stay in a division race and stuff like that um those are tough things to balance and sometimes tough decisions need to be made but ultimately like when you look at this lineup Brendan like the thing to me whether we’re talking about PCA whether we’re talking about calling up Brenan Davis or how they manage playing time like to me I’m always going to look at things I’m looking at their lineup from tonight outside of Patrick wisdom who is not an everyday starter they have zero zero Brendan regular starters that have an Ops over 800 not a single one so to me again some guys you got to give time to you believe in them they have a proven track record Etc or they’re not guys that are going to put up an Ops that hot and it’s fine when those are your numbers and you’re having trouble scoring more than two or three runs at a time you have to start asking these questions don’t you you cannot look at that lineup and go well all of these guys have to play so where is PCA gonna play no they don’t they’re not performing as a group so that’s why you paid Craig Council a bunch of money you give him better options and you ask him to figure it out but if you SC and the whole line is underperforming they do not all need to be out there every day there is playing time to be had until the results get better I need to see PCA PCA up on Monday I I do I feel so convicted about this there to me are players and attitudes where development is best served at the big league level I think of P crew Armstrong the immediate phrase that comes to mind is stress response there’s value of developing at the big league level when certain guys can adapt to it I think PCA has unique ability to use stimuli and stressful environments to promote development I think there’s value in looking at Big League pitching with big league backdrops the stands in the background the IV in the background the sound the stimuli with the sounds I think there’s value see 97 98 99 value with the Dugout cheering for you the speakers all of that is a unique environment that can only be experienced at the big league level and I’m more convicted about this opinion because he surprised even his manager and the front office he was making 73% contact in tripa a he gets to call to Wrigley Field he makes 79% contact no no one expected that how do we explain that is it a Dustin Kelly change perhaps maybe we can ask some questions Dustin Kelly with Ryan but to me that’s where there’s frustration with the lack of aggression Jed Hoyer was in the booth in Marquee and he was being asked uh about new metrics he’s on the score even talking about this and Jed discussed about how there’s really some gray area and determining what makes a hitter successful and Via ey tracking data some neur biology data to go with it then maybe can make better informed decisions me I think there’s extreme value and information for guys with pca’s mindset and brain to grow and he already showed that blip in development no one expected that so I want to see more of that and then the comparison well who would who would he take on the roster Nick magal has a negative .7 wins above replacement he’s Hur actively hurting the the team right now there’s but he got a hit tonight he got a hit tonight but there’s there’s ways to make this work if you look at a 20 game window you play PCA in 15 games talkman in 16 games and Bush in nine games right now we’re not even seeing Bush play more than 50% of games in a 20 game span to begin with so it’s twofold for me I want the Cubs team to have value now but I’m starting to be convinced that pca’s development is best had in these stressful environments and I need to see that and I need to start the inevitable adjustment period he will face now that way when we come into September we don’t have to have PCA going through that adjustment phase because he already experienced that in June and July this is what I mean by the fast fail iteration process start it fast right now let’s get it going I’m I don’t want to see replacement level performances when we have a blip in development with your number one Prospect taking that bats and pissing off opposing teams in Triple A do that here well our guy Kevin Wells said it in the chat he’s like it feels like PCA could be part of your best eight guys best nine guys right now and again like I said with the way some of these guys are performing I I I just don’t I don’t really see a downside to it you you just aren’t performing at a level I it was a more interesting conversation last year Brendan like when you did have uh the kind of we’re playing the guys that got us here mentality um like that was an interesting time because for a stretch they were the guys performing and there was when they started to wear down there was that argument of like they got us to the deadline made us buyers like and so there was like a part that kind of understood like that’s why Ross is relying on that even if most of us disagreed with it and knew that a lot of those guys needed a rest but right now that’s not happening with this offense this offense isn’t carrying you to anything they’re not on a heater you have plenty of guys that could take a day off a week DH a day take a seat for one day against a pitcher that maybe isn’t the best matchup it’s fine and PCA doesn’t need to play every day he can have matchups where they decide hey this isn’t his best matchup uh a flame-throwing Lefty whatever it might be it’s fine those things happen but I I agree like this team needs a jolt and he feels like just the guy to provide it and that’s not to say that you you put that pressure on him and he has to come up and perform but it feels like he might be ready for it and you need one of those extreme outcomes to get you out of this funk rather than just trotting the same guys out there and hoping that something different happens tomorrow it’s asking a lot and it feels like he’s got it right now and you need to try to I I’m with you they got to bring PCA up and I think they got to give it a try it’s almost like a performance enhancing drug to give a player of Pete’s caliber the MLB environment to develop for him I think his brain makes more of those stress responses than other players I’m like I’m fully convinced of this his performance at the play now people say oh well he had an Ops of whatever it was or the batting average wasn’t quite high but the under the hood stuff the composure the pl discipline the contact seeing pitches the softness at which he takes his stride was so different than last year and playing quite literally League best center field defense with the fastest Sprint speed on the basis it’s good for the team it’s good for Pete it’s good for Bellinger to play first base a Miss coming back from inur Shoring up the infield defense the scooping Shoring up Christopher morel’s perhaps Aaron throws I’m frustrated that it hasn’t happened and this is this will be one of the moves that if we look back in hindsight I’m going to be extremely annoyed about that we didn’t leverage this unique opportunity yeah and again it’s not a it’s not an unheard of thing our guy Tyler in the chat pointing out the Rangers last year with Carter and Langford even you go back to Chicago Cubs you go back 2015 they Schwarz was hot they brought him up they drafted schwarb in 2014 they called him up they had no issue with that they had no issue kind of pressing the button and saying you know what it feels like this guy can mash and let’s give it a try let’s give it a shot what’s the worst that happens and that’s where I get happens PCA comes up and is is another sub replacement level you already got four on the roster I I think defense in speed is it’s not possible I think the front office r rizes this as the following that Patrick wisdom Michael Bush and Mike talkman in the next month you can’t say for sure that PCA will outproduce each and every one of those players value so their thinking is because that’s not a certainty let’s give Pete every day at bats in Triple A I wholeheartedly disagree with that because I don’t I think that I think that perhaps lags his development and I think the high extreme outcome for PCA over let’s say wisdom or bush justifies reduced playing time and that risk those guys aren’t going to push you towards that top Echelon uh projection but you know who will the best defender in in center field in major league baseball the fastest guy the youngest guy on this roster and the one who is showing signs of un
